I think running any quality 0W40 oil is gonna be just fine. DEXOS doesn't likely mean better protection, it's simply a formula that GM approved and licensed for use. I've always used it, primarily cause I use Mobil 1 oil. But I wouldn't be sweating running other quality name brands.
