Here's a good video of a LZ0 engine teardown with less than 8,000 miles that had thrust bearing failure. In video it was discovered that the crankshaft only had one thrust bearing instead of two. Why only one bearing is still in question.

Make sure you check your oil level in the pan. PPE filter holds almost a qt of oil.
