Does anyone know whether the stock problematic 6.2 motors in our ZR2s can be replaced by the GM L8P crate motors:
I’m not asking whether it’s viable for warranty replacement, whether it’s emissions legal etc.
What I’m interested in is knowing whether, in the event my motor shits the bed, this is a bolt in option, with the requisite tuning, etc.
If this has been done, what needs to be changed, modified, physically and are the parts that need to be changed directly interchangeable:
Engine mounting?
Crankcase?
Flywheel?
Accessory drive system?
If this is viable, I would be surprised someone hasn’t done it already, especially with a truck that the warranty has expired on.
