Just updating here, i have a 2023 silverado 1500 zr2 6.2l. truck is completely stock. few months ago while driving, it just shut off mid curve. towed it to dealer and they said it was something with the ECU (ill get the details later). Yesterday, truck just shutoff while driving, went into neutral and then shutoff. wouldnt turn back on. no check engine lights etc.... Dealer just told me today that the engine "locked" up and that Chevy will give me a new engine.....

well....this sucks guys....
good luck with your truck.....this shit is not reliable.....

Sorry to hear that. Hope you have better luck with the new motor.

If memory serves, there is a guy on the forums on this third motor from it locking up.

I hate reading all the threads and articles on these motors. I'm pretty sure I'm all in with my "get off my f'n lawn" old man days of my life. Even though it doesnt directly impact me because I run diesel, it's just frustrating as fk that all these companies build sht to the lowest cost and not the highest quality.

Just looked up the recall and wow, pretty common. I had a 2022 trail boss had the same root cause bottom end fail but mine. Thankfully, had not locked up yet. The dealer was shocked it was still running. Just sounded weird while idling, loud tapping noise. I thought for sure it was a lifter and turned out I had a crankcase full of metal. I know it sucks but I hope your dealer takes care of you as good as mine did. Took a month to get an engine but they set me up with a rental and kept me informed. I hope they have actually fixed this issue as I now have a 2026 ZR2.
