hey all

I'm about to order a MY 26 2500HD ZR2 Duramax. I've had my current truck since 2013 and its got almost 300k miles but sadly lost the battle to rust being in NJ. Was back and forth on what to buy but it seems like these are solid trucks and I am excited, never bought new before but I want some options I am not seeing on the used market very frequently. It's crazy this is going to be more than money than my BMW but I plan on keeping it for 15+ years or as long as I can. Priority 1 will be rust proofing. I am 90% decided on a Duramax in Cypress Gray, sunroof, standard tailgate, blacked out logos, upfitter switches, power LED assist steps, no camper/snow plow prep or 5th wheel. Does anyone have the Cold Weather Steering line upgrade or kicker under seat rear sub?

My Vehicles as of now:
2010 Silverado 2500 LTZ
2020 BMW M550
2003 Wrangler TJ
2005 GSX-R 750
2006 Harley Street Glide

Happy to be here and hoping i can get my order in, and get the truck sometime in summer before MY 27.

Overall, they are a nice truck and you will find it to be night and day different from your 2010 rig. I really like mine and it is great as a daily driver and tows exceptionally well for a "lifted" truck. Towing heavy mileage is poor, but thats my only reall complaint. Regular driving mileage is decent for a 8-9k lb truck.

There are some software/electrical headaches that come with these new trucks, but that's every maker and model. The only other real issue has been some bad valve bodies in the transmission. However, those we're supposed to be updated in the newest trucks. A few 2024 trucks had oil coolers leak into the coolant system, but haven't seen much on that recently, so probably not much of an issue.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply, pretty familiar with the valvebody issues and not as concerned as of now, but we will see. software/electrical is my fear especially once out of bumper to bumper.

I had the kicker sub on my last truck. It was ok. Not sure if it is worth the money. I used my reward points and would have been more disappointed if actually paid for it. I think there are better options for the same result and cheaper.

Nice! Hopefully it isn’t too long of a wait for you.

Well I have an update:

Original Dealer in Denville, NJ flat out lied about having allocations (apparently hadn't been able to order any 2500s for months when I placed my order), then lied and said 2026 Order Banks were already closed on 4/17. Even the GM spouted the same nonsense. I reached out to another dealer up in Albany, NY spoke to the owner and got an allocation right away the same Thursday.

Order Placed: 4/23/2026
Order Accepted: 4/28/2026
Order Scheduled for Production: 5/4/2026
Order TPW: 5/25/2026

Then my original dealer now says my order has been accepted by GM after no contact for 2 weeks. I called the GM and he doesn't seem to care they gave me bad info, so if anyone wants the same build as me they will probably have one in June, but I won't be dealing with them or giving them any of my money.

Albany is a few hours from me, but having a direct line with the owner and them being so upfront about everything has been worth it. I can not wait for my truck, I assume i'll take delivery end of June or beginning of July. Hope we get some good incentives around then.
