Retractable steps, Standard or XL?

Anyone have the AMP power step or the XL version? I have elderly parents and am looking for a way for them to get in the truck. Does the standard drop down enough (halfway)? Does the XL drop down too much to make sense, like it's meant for an even higher lifted truck?

Anyone have the AMP power step or the XL version? I have elderly parents and am looking for a way for them to get in the truck. Does the standard drop down enough (halfway)? Does the XL drop down too much to make sense, like it's meant for an even higher lifted truck?

I have the standard ones my 1500 and the XL on my 2500HD. The XLs are definitely better for the 2500HD and puts the drop step right in the middle. They kind of look cool to like a rock slider, but have no durable functionality for that.

I have detailed posts on here with pictures. Also details on install and wiring. Unless they changed the kit and included the necessary pigtails for wiring into the BCM, it is a PIA to splice the activation wires into the stock harness. Also need to get the wire into cab. Just check.out my directions.
