Hey all.

Been in my truck since April '25. Just about to click 15k miles. Bought new off the lot.

1. Present from day 1, I noticed a light/faint "click" sound in the steering wheel/column/shafts. It sounds "in-cab" but its tough to localize. I have not done any form of digging into it yet. Click type noise most present stationary or low speed, moving the wheel past center to the left. When it passes roughly center, there is an audible but not really felt "click" in the wheel. This seems to go away when warm or at speed, or, I just don't notice it when moving. I had chalked this up to some form of characteristic of the steering digital assist and haven't really worried much about it. If this is a common issue with a known solution, i'd rather it not be present. A buddy at work also has the same truck, his truck makes this same noise. This is just a sanity check to see if others have noticed a similar occurrence in their own rigs. The click sounds like plastic or very thin metal.

2. Just recently on a 3k mile trip, I noticed a new and faint "squeak" on larger, grade changing bumps. I thought it might be the sunroof or rear slider. But, after a few days I was able to locate it to the seat itself. Not the leather touching the center console or arm and rubbing. But something under the seat bottom itself is squeaky. I'll tear in there come spring, but, was also just wondering if this is something others have noted. Im only 150lbs so I was a little miffed it's taken less than a year to have a persistent squeak appear. The squeak is now much more present at baseline, but it is faint and overall unobtrusive.

Some added details:
Front end was greased by me on day 1, done correctly.
Front end was greased at my 3rd OCI at 10k miles, again done with care.
Grease has not altered the steering click noise.
The truck drives fantastic. This is not a running concern. Just something i'd love to track down.
I plan to spritz the steering shaft joints with some lube, have not done so yet.

Mine has clicked since day 1 when its turned almost full lock. I want to say I recall seeing somewhere there is some plastic bearing or some such down there that is causing the clicking.

Makes sense. The lower bearing has forever had issues. Will dig in and report findings at some point

3 people I have talked to all have it. I'm chalking it up to, normal/ is what it is until proven otherwise lol

There is also a sensor in the steering column that can cause that clicking noise.

Have the dealer check the intermediate steering shaft and tell them you need a new seat base or seat base hardware kit. Those have been prevalent for years on Chevrolet's. I had my seat base hardware done a while back cause I could feel it moving under load.

Had the seat frame replaced in the 1500 ZR2 I had too.

Is it wrong of me that expect squeaks, creaks, pops, and all other kinds of noises when owning a truck or am I just used to running the shit out of them and stuff makes noise?

I guess this is what I get for seeing a truck as a tool. Kinda like my watches, knives, and guns. They’re for a purpose, not show and luxury.

If something is broke, yes fix it. Even if I have to fix it myself. However, that’s not why I bought my truck. I bought it to use it and use it hard.

I don’t mind being the outlier asshole on this btw…

My anxiety level goes to 10.5 if I've got random shit making noise! I'll smash that fucker with a hammer to stop the noise and fix it later!

I might even use one of my new crammers to get the job done. Part crescent wrench, part hammer.......meet the crammer! Also has a pry bar. Got my boys one for Christmas!

I get quite the reaction from some shooters when they see the cosmetic condition of my Wilson that I carry....It's a tool, not a safe queen.

The Swiss watches on my wrist, however....guilty.

I’m partially guilty… my Speedy FOIS is my daily, but I do have a couple of queens. So it’s not quite my banger, but sees action. For the rough stuff, I leave that for my INOX

lol, I'm the same way. I'm on my second Zr2, 41k miles between both. Each went to the dealership once for the brake control problem. I've never had a truck that didn't have squeaks and creaks occasionally. I did have a rattle in my 1500 dash that I had to track down. I'm actually pretty sure the rattle started after the dealership replaced the brake controller. With the exhaust and at a certain RPM it was just annoying. So I definitely get how certain ones can trigger you though.

I haven't noticed my seats squeaking or rattling in either of the ones I've had.
I did remove the seats and put them back in both trucks right after I got them. So maybe that fixed it before I ever noticed it, lol.

I understand having some nosies within reason. However I didn’t pay 20k for a throw together truck. If it’s rattling like it’s going to fall apart at 2k miles what will it sound like at 20k miles. Working my truck also doesn’t mean abusing it.

With that being said the only odd noises mine makes is the whistle from the driver side mirror cap and a click when at full lock. Not so much worries about the steering click. The mirror though they can fix it’s loud and annoying as shit.

If you got a HD ZR2 for 20k I would just be happy it runs. That's at least 50k less then the rest of us :ROFLMAO:, Jk, I know you mean difference with trade, But for perspective, you actually paid 70k+ plus for a throw together truck 😅. Personally I rather the dealer not poke around with mine if I can help it. Especially knowing what level tech they will put on a interior squeak or wind noise complaint. My one really annoying rattle was caused by them the one time it went into the dealership.

Totally feel you, I hate taking it up there. The one time I let them change the oil under a freebee, they got oil all over my fender and some on the steering wheel. But I am unsure how to fix the mirror. I believe the spot that is an issue is between the cap and the main assy on the inside corner. The backup camera is another issue for it being darker than the rest. However, they replaced that and it's still the same. Come to find out, the trailer hitch cam is the same way so it has to be something common to both. They had to open a case with GM apparently lol. Dealerships suck worse today than decades ago for sure.

Also, I didn’t mean 20k for this truck I meant for some piece of shit that I knew was going to fall apart lol.

Yep unfortunately dealership service is hit or miss. I didn't even get my free oil changes. One of my oldest son's friends is a tech at a local Honda dealership. He has told me some stories for sure. I'd definitely let them deal with the camera problems. Hopefully they will get you sorted. Mine has had the tailgate recall for about 6 months. I've been building up to taking it in, lol. My HD has been to a dealer once for the brake control recall. They also did a update on the infotainment while it was there and it broke my Spotify steering wheel controls for a couple weeks

My daily is a rotation of Tudors and Omegas, particularly my Seamaster 300M. The shiny safe queens (Actually, winder queens) are the Moonwatch, The Sub, and a TAG. I have one Breitling to remind me to never buy another.

Perfect, will ask my parts boys. I run a Caddy dealer :P
