The NEW Duramax L5P Oil Filter Problem — And How We Fix It

Thinking of buying this...seems like a no brainer. Thoughts?

Unless you're running 10-15k intervals and stacking miles, your not getting any benefit.

While I don't like the smaller filters they use now, there is plenty of filter media inside for 5k mile intervals. I've cut plenty of filters open including the PF63. They look surprisingly clean when I let them drain several days. Also my oil analysis seems to look good.

If you really want better filtration, you need to run an oil bypass filter system. Your oil will always look like honey and be much cleaner as it filters down to a much lower micron rating.

Also Dave is full of shit about the size of that filter. I doubt you'll find a Hyundai or any other Asian motor running filters that big.

You know I trust your opinion @AXE...most of the time ;) I'll save my money on this one. Caught my eye because it appears to be easy and inexpensive to do. I change my oil every 3K anyway since I don';t drive a ton of miles so we'll let her be.
