Towing Information and Advice

Back when Chev came out with their Cargo Van, many people used them for service vehicles.
they started losing Transmissions in them for that reason.
it was around 2005-2010 from what i Can Remember, it may even go alot longer in years going up to 2014.
What i can remember Is mine never gave me any issues, so I gave it some thought, and I believe it was because, the weight of Carrying a Load, tools, Materials, equipment, Parts, is all the same as putting a towing capacity load on a Vehicle's Transmission.
This being Said, I remember one of the service manager's telling me to put the Service Van I was driving back then on Tow Mode or overdrive bypass manually that was on the end of the fly steering column shifter, button.
Im sure this applies to all these Silverado Trucks from 2014-2018 that was losing these transmissions and were not towing anything.
and Im sure not only weight but tire and rim size effect that Transmission load as well, since GM has been using the same transmission for Suv's and Caddilacs and Cars and such. even buicks and i heard they will work in these and are much cheaper according to a good auto mechanic i know.
Hope this helps people who worry about their transmissions going out on the ZR2, to consider weight carrying in the bed of the truck, and tire size not just towing capacity alone that can put an extra load on the transmission.
not sure what GM Recommends.

Yes. That's why it's called "tow/HAUL" mode. It makes the transmission not shift as much or "hunt" for gears as much as normal.

I could mistake Haul for hauling anything on a Trailer flat bed or with siding, now if it said Carrying Load, I'd be more likely to understand. Towing to me is like towing a vehicle or pulling a trailer or rv. make sense.

To haul means to carry something of weight or volume in the bed of your truck. That's why there is a "HAUL" mode. Now, my last name is not Webster, but the meaning of hauling something is pretty much common sense.

not as common as carry when the trans goes out, and carrying a car or hauling a car is not the same as hauling ass or towing a car hauler is it ? even if your name is common as webster or not as uncommon as webster. either way, you proved my point, and thank you for reading the common part with your commonsense.

The cargo vans were around longggggg before the 700R4. The reaction gear housing was the source of most of the transmission issues in that timeframe you mention, because it was a cost-cutting stamped steel POS. GM's cost cutting antics have always been present...They just seem more pronounced nowadays because of poor supply chain management/poor customer service.

feels that way right, especially when ya think about it . i think the tariffs are having its toll effect on that supply chain issue with the motor issues.
