Good morning.
Tons of threads here about transmission shuddering, but wondering if anyone has had the issue I’m about to describe. Driving two days ago accelerating to 50mph when I hear and feel a loud “clunk”. Instant check engine light, no power whatsoever. It would rev but no torque. Got it off the road, but the truck shutdown after that. Now I can’t get it out of park, and it won’t turn over. With the dealership now, will report back. Blows my mind, it’s a 2023 with 12k miles. Thanks!

Valve body go bye-bye. Known issue in early production models. Most of those shit the bed before they got 10 miles down the road.

That's my guess....But don't listen to me because I'm usually wrong.

My 24 did something similar, but mine would start and run so I was able to back it up onto a flatbed for towing, by the time I got to the dealership to drop it off in the parking lot (about 2 hours, I think once it was off and everything powered down after 10 minutes it reset the system) I was able to clear the code and it drove fine, they said it was the valve body, was on backorder and had been for months, the GM regional manager authorized ordering both the valve body and a complete new trans and whichever showed up first was to be installed, so I got a new trans with 4K on the clock. The reason it has no guts is the trans goes into failsafe mode so it is stuck in 5th gear with the TC unlocked with a "Reduced Engine Power" message on the dash.

This is another feature of the truck, it's not a flaw!

Holy smokes. I’ll pass word once the dealership updates me. Thanks!

Dealership got back to me. Electronic Fuel Pump control module failed. Makes sense now, no gas to the engine caused the trans to not know what gear it was in and it disengaged (clunk I heard). Thankfully it was a quick fix.

Weird...But does address why it wouldn't start for you after it was shut down.

all of them suck. it's like all manufacturers are vying to build the biggest POS possible. at the end of the day, it's all about ROI and cutting costs to inflate their bottom lines, thus they all produce crap.

on the flip side, i'm loving my new babymax, but i haven't had it long enough for it to develop any issues; have yet to turn over 1K on the odo. made first trip to DC this past sunday to the commanders redskins game and it did absolutely spectacular, got around 26 mpg. i keep waiting for something to fail, though.

If Rivian made a truck with a larger bed, that may catch my attention down the road. They are super nice and the engineering and software on these trucks is second to none IMPO.

Common problem, after infotainment system and software issues it's the second most common issue. Lots of posts on it here and reddit. That's why I carry a spare under my back seat.

Look at the Scout Terra! It's a Rivian that doesn't look like it's for gay guys.
