Hey guys,

Well this is the second time. Just a normal car wash, they did spray water underneath the truck too, and it turned on fine when i took it to the drying bay and parked it. After like 20 minutes when they done, they car won’t start. The dash is throwing “low battery voltage” but it ain’t true, the battery is brand new and i can hear the ignition fine but it won’t start. I left it at car wash and will come in the morning because to tow it not sure if it’s possible to put it in nuteral. I tried to disconnect the battery and waited with no avail.

The first time happened and i did wash the engine with steam, it was complaining about the rear parking sensor not working can’t recall the exact error. But with battery disconnect, the car stated fine.

What do you think the issue might be, as this ain’t normal.

There may be water getting into the ECU from the undercarriage wash.. the ECU sits behind the drivers front wheel well near the bumper, so water from below can get to it. Check the three connections there, especially if yiu have the Range DFM module.

Yeah checked there but nothing visible and hope it’s properly sealed. Had to take the fiberglass liner out to remove the range module before towing it to the dealership. Also will have the guy put it in neutral from underneath as there’s no nuteral override safety switch im afraid.

Well just left the dealership, they are telling me the problem is with wiring of my AMP Research steps as they were improperly installed. They are talking about the bank of 8 plugs in the driver side kick panel area. The dealership removed one wire and the car started fine. Not sure what has the water got to do with it, maybe a coincidence. But that’s what they told me and they told me they’re willing to fix it. I provided them with the right wire mappings from AMP Research manual and will see.

AMP did a shitty job with those kits. It's sold as plug and play, yet they don't provide a plug or harness to splice inline. For $1200 they provide $0.10 worth of splice fittings and shitty directions.

I would guess the wire that comes into the cab to trigger the steps is getting jostled around by the wash or may have a nick in the wire coating that is intermittently shorting on the metal/water.

I've haven't had any issues with my amp steps since installed. Directions were horribly printed and color block description was wrong on the green block, mine it was more a coastal green. And block orientation printed on the paper was opposite when you looked under the dash. Gm used so many green/yellow wire in one plug it's confusing. I can't remember what PIN numbers were but it's the block closest to fender side and I gently cut and peeled tape to give more working room. Here are pics I took on install.

Yep, I did two of them and ran out of cuss words on both. "The light green wire with the yellow stripe"........... I broke out the magnifying glass at one point, fer crissakes!

Happy to hear it all turned out well and who ever the moron was that that installed them for you learned an important lesson ;-)
