Hello ZR2 people!
I’m proud owner of a 2024 and can’t say enough great things about this truck. I have a couple things I wish was not…and hopefully this knowledge of experience will help me figure it out. I bought the truck to begin boon-docking between my gigs (cinematography), which I’m
about to begin this summer.
I’ve owned a few great trucks along the way…Jeep Cherokee, Toyota 4Runner, Yukon Denali, BMW 4.6is, Ford F-250 Diesel, Toyota Tundra, Ford F-150. Loved them all for various reasons, but many things about this ZR2 make it special.
Other than the silly Auto Start feature (on a Turbo
), I feel the truck has too many sensors creating unnecessary drama. The engine light on my truck has gone off too many times for its own good, and it’s beginning to affect my confidence.
The first time 8/24 it was a complete wiring harness meltdown which damaged the engine. It was repaired and since then been running like a beast. In February 2/26 the check engine light with emissions + transmission + DEF warnings fired off. Turned out to be low voltage issue.
Replaced the battery. The last couple times the engine light came on and the truck went into limp mode, and the warning to service RSC…then went away. When I called OnStar to diagnose they came back with no codes and then a Fuel Management (which went away)? Do I take it in? Will it reproduce? I have to leave it in the shop for days around here, so just want to be sure it’s not a sensor. So I picked up a scanner to check the codes myself and dig a bit deeper before I take it in.
I found one of the sensors failing and then okay?
Is this normal? Seems a bit much for a 2024 truck with under 30k?
Please shed some light if you can relate.
