No, the engine is tuned for the 87. Just like any vehicle unless the tuning is present then it is actually making less HP. The higher octane fuel has additives that allow for a higher compression (retardation) with no detonation. The vehicles that have a requirement for higher octane can run on...
Just got back from a trip to Fort Worth some highway mostly slower about 50 miles round trip. This was taken when I got to my destination in Fort Worth. Made it to 22.9 before I got home. The 90-octane ethanol free fuel is awesome!!
The issue for me is not fuel mileage per se it is the ability to use ethanol free fuel. The tires I run are heavier and just a little larger but much more aggressive. Would guess that if I still had the factory rubber on it would be a little better still, this truck gets around like a goat off...
Mine (2024 Bison) regularly gets a little over 20mpg on the highway regularly with no headwinds. I also run Goodyear Boulder MT's 35x12.50-17 tires. I use Amsoil signature oil and run 55 psi in the tires. It can be done. Just a note that makes about a 1 to 2 mpg difference (especially highway)...
This happened to me several times and I have a subscription. To clear this after this was escalated to higher level of the tech support the fix is easy. Go to settings and open Google maps and do a reset not just a clear cache. Drive a few miles and it will come back.
Had the diffs and trans case oil changed. Good thing I did because the trans case was a little low and not even a wet seal. Great job at the factory when it was filled--not. 🙁
After a brutal week at the ranch in far S/E NM and driving checking the fences after a rain (maybe 3/4 of an inch) ran into a soft spot that in hundreds of times going in this small stretch no issues ever but the soil is very different not caliche it just sank.
Long story short had to get...
The ability to control more and more of an engine's controls electronically and with superior engineering makes the engines more complex. Even if this is not a high-performance high revving motor Ford did something on the drawing board (now it is all with CAD and software modeling) that has...
Just a word to the wise on the Ford Platty.... If you drive much on the highway or off road (caliche or gravel) get the bumper and the front exposed forward facing painted area covered with a good PPF. I had one Platty then a couple of King Ranches because at that time they had a chrome bumper...
I change my oil when the oil % from the oil monitoring system gets to 10% life. Tires are rotated for free at my tire dealer Discount Tire. I do them every 5 to 6k .
I agree--the GM steps have one motor. The ones I have installed myself have 2 motors on each side. On all of the previous one that were installed by me never any issues and that includes the ones on my 2024 Colorado Bison.
While in New Mexico Friday heard a horrible grinding noise. Got out looked everywhere even crawled underneath and nothing touching or rubbing anywhere then got back in and drove a few feet and there it was again. Turns out the driver's side power step motor had died and was grinding and the step...
