I believe the 1500s have aluminum skins on every body panel that hinges (doors, tailgate, hood). This has been the case since 2014, if I’m not mistaken.
According to the poll, I am among the minority. I have a rule to top off my fuel tank at 25% remaining. You never know when a situation will arise where you need to travel more than 35 miles without refueling.
This happened on my previous truck (2017 LTZ Z71). Had the dealership install new hardware kit and (zip tie fix). It lasted about 1 year and started shifting again during tight corners. Hopefully it doesn’t happen on my ‘24 ZR2.
It looks like they used a paint protection film on your truck from the factory. I can see the clear film in the photos. Definitely different than the heavy orange peel coating on our 1500 ZR2s. I have not read anywhere that GM had plans to discontinue that on the 2025 or 2026 model years.
I wouldn’t make any engine modifications if your VIN is included in the recall. I would recommend doing used oil analysis. As many others here, I use Blackstone. I also do frequent oil/filter changes (3,000-3,500 miles).
Here is the link to order a free oil sample kit...
I’ve only had my jump box for about a week, but my research on them and my knowledge of Lithium batteries leads me to believe that overcharging them will drastically shorten the battery lifespan. Might want to reconsider and check the charge status once a month or once per quarter. Just my opinion.
I followed advice from others on here and got the standard B&W Tow and Stow. I’m very pleased with it and it’s holding up well. It took me 3 times to get a straight one, but customer service was easy to work with and made it right. One of the only companies still making products right here in...
I’ve got a Tusk 400 amp (wallet size) jump box in the RZR and we recently jumped off a 4.3 L V6 and it had no problem. They are handy to have if you’re camping at an off-road park for charging devices, like you mentioned.
I picked up one of these, and a protective case, to store in the truck.
After being stranded once (in my previous Silverado) and having to walk to the local auto parts store to have them come and give me a boost; I’ll be better prepared when my ZR2 battery craps the bed in 2-3 years.
Since the recent C8 ZR1 and ZR1X have been announced; It’s a buyer’s market right now for the C8 Z06 (especially low mileage used ones). If you’re in the market, might want to strike while the iron is hot!
Sorry we high jacked your thread with garage talk. My 2017 Silverado LTZ had this issue once. I just reset the mirrors using the interior button and it never happened again. I also disabled the remote mirror folding feature in the settings menu. Going forward I simply used the interior button...
