I am looking for a 12 volt accessory point (very low amp) under the hood (not directly on the Battery) and not "obvious" to add a GPS tracker. I am not the guy that cuts or splices wires and prefer something I can factory plug into. Any ideas or options would be great? I don't mind spending a bit of money to do it the right way.

There are plenty of slots in the fuse panels that you can add a micro fuse tab. Not sure that's very inconspicuous, but easy to do under the hood or on the side of the dash. Could also tap wires in the BCM, that would be harder to detect.

If you have OnStar, it'll be harder to steal. You can track it easily and it can be disabled.

i agree with @AXE you can track yourself thru the app. $14 month no wires.

Had OnStar in my 2022 GMC. Absolutely worthless for any attempt to track it. The advertised conception is they can track it the fact is they had no clue where I parked it and had no intention of tracking it until after a police report was processed. The fact is their process is flawed. They advised me with a text that someone was messing with the truck, but had no clue where it was parked and had no intention to track it until it was way too late. So now I have LoJac, but even that is slow to report when the truck leaves its geofence. Taking up too an hour to report. So now I am looking to setup my own tracking. Cost is $40 for the tracker and about $6 a month with much more functions that I can manage myself.

I've been able to track mine on my phone fairly reliably since 2014 with OnStar. Mine disappears, I'm saddling up and delivering some justice. Then I'm gonna report it stolen later on. Then gonna collect the insurance when they total it from the human biohazrd left behind.

So the problem is the theives know exactly how to disable onstar. Tons of posts about it on Facebook. They are stealing these trucks left and right, Especially in Texas it seems. They cut the horn in the wheel well. Open the truck, setting the alarm off. Which makes no sound because they cut or unplugged the horn already. Then they swap the ECM and disable onstar. It's all done in less than 2 mins. All you get is a text message from onstar and by the time you are aware the tracking is gone.

If theft is a concern install a kill switch. That's really the best safeguard. A hidden tracker is also a good idea. I have a couple on my trailers. They are pretty cheap and the service isn't bad. Especially if you pay by the year. Not a bad idea to wire in a horn or siren into a different location. I don't know like a train horn 😅 so when they cut the horn wires in the wheel well thinking they will have a quiet entry. They get a loud surprise.

Once every 2 years I hope my truck gets stolen, but it never happens.

My wife picked me up from the airport last night in my 1500. She had the keys in a cup holder. Got home, I grabbed my shit walked inside and truck sat outside all night unlocked with the keys in it.

Arizona has a high rate of trucks stolen. Cartels like them to smuggle drugs and illegals. Gonna leave it in Sasabe to up my odds! It's now 100% controlled by cartels inside US border right where I used to hunt.

FUSE 92 under the hood. Just fuse tap it.

Lol, I actually know of a few similar like cases with SxSs. Few OHV trails have higher theft rates. I've known of a few cases where they "had" to leave their disabled/stuck sxs on the trail overnight. Only to come back later to find it gone. I also know a guy who hated his buggy. His also "had" to get left overnight at a busy trailhead only to come back and find his sxs sitting exactly where he "had" to leave it. Which ofcourse only fueled his disdain for his buggy. He often said it was so bad it wasn't worth stealing.

Personally I hate theives. Luckily I've only had a handful of things walk away in my life. But I'm all about preventing it or doing whatever I can to increase the chances of them getting caught. I don't even care if it's a case where I may benefit. I don't want them to benefit ever. Everything is insured, I still take steps every different ways for security.

I had a trailer stolen a while back. My second one in my life. After it happened I bought a new better one. Bought a GPS tracker and a wireless camera. I put the new trailer at the same location and left it unlocked for weeks, lol. Didn't really care if I lost the second trailer if it got the theives caught. That's my level of petty towards theives 😅

Yeah. I've had my my truck broken into a few times. Once they were trying to jimmy the ignition. Did some damage prying doors open to unlock it to get inside. Lost a nice mountain bike, some hunting gear, and a bunch of tools.

Had a buddy that got his mountain home emptied. Furniture, appliances, electronics, food, guns, sxs, tools, and even his underwear. Bastards got hungry and made some food right the countertop while they were there. They caught them just a couple weeks later. Got some stuff back. A lot of it was long gone.

Had a couple guys get trucks stolen in broad daylight at work during the last border invasion.

There was organized crime (foreigners) working our area a few years back. They would knock on your door and pretend to sell you something of you answered. No answer, they would come in. They walked right in on a lady that didn't answer. They just busted a Chilean gang this week in Phoenix doing the same.

They do that at my house, they'd get introduced to dogs and an 870 with 00 buck.

I suspect it's gonna get a whole lot worse. When the economy tanks again, and people get reminded what hard times look like, it's gonna be free for all.

You forgot to leave a couple hundred next to the keys for gas money.
