The Banks Derringer is now available i just ordered mine. Has anyone installed one yet and what are the results? After my install i will update results.

I would love to run the big HP again! The part about this deception from Banks "Best of all, it's warranty friendly. After removal, there's no trace left behind." is just crazy. In the sentence's above this they discuss all of the parameters that are changed by their product. These are monitored by the vehicle and are retrievable.

Want to see some posts on how much these help.

What a bunch of crap! Cant ship to CA

Spoke with Tech Support to check on a few things and better understand the install. Also learned that if you call in to place your order, versus doing it on-line, you can get an additional 10% off...you just have to ask for a discount ;)

Which you'll be doing more often...Auto or manually triggered. More power = more fuel = more unburnt fuel = more regens. I don't see how they can avoid this.
Did you read all of the info on their website? Your assessment is not necessarily correct.

I read it all...every word of their propaganda. I have no doubt that it will do EVERYTHING they are saying it will do. But, my statement is 100% correct regarding this unit.....More power = more fuel = more unburnt fuel = more regens. ANY tuner, even the ones produced by the great shyster Banks, will face this issue if the truck isn't deleted.

Banks is a shyster? He's one of the most respected engine authorities in the world. Please go on.....

Yes, he is....right up until he starts with his marketing activities of his own products. Respect is earned....it's also easily wasted by making false claims, telling half of a story, and hiring lawyers to shut up people who prove his products worthless. Sorry, but I don't worship on the alter of Gale Banks. But by all means, give your Pedal Monster a nice hug before you go to bed every night. You do you.

Aren't we the bitter one today. Sounds like you need a hug my friend 🤗

Not sure why anyone would be that concerned about regens one way or another. I can't even tell when this truck is regenning, not sure a tuner is gonna change that much. Maybe you get a regen 10-20 miles sooner, but it ain't gonna be double.

In previous trucks I could tell every time they regen By mileage drop, smell, and rpms at idle, occasionally see gray soot come.out the exhaust.

As with any modifications, it will change the performance of the truck. You take the good with the bad in some cases.

included all of this with my order i can't wait to install and see results. I will update after done. Also not shown is the idash pro which they gave me 50% off because i called them and told them i had previously purchased 2 idash super gauges and a pedal monster when i bought my truck with the intension of adding the derringer once it was completed.

I look forward to hearing results from folks who install the derringer.

I too fell into the iDash trap by purchasing the old one for use with pedal monster, and now I'd need the new iDash pro to accommodate the derringer. Have a cart built but keep hesitating to pull the trigger.

The install video looks straightforward but a bit annoying. Not sure it'd be worth uninstalling this for regular dealer visits. Far more involved than unplugging the iDash and pedal monster.

Once someone gets it installed, please let us know what happens if you unplug the derringer from the engine wiring harness and iDash/OBD. I presume the wiring harness alone would make it throw a code without the iDash/OBD connection, but would like to have confirmation.

Admirable step forward from Banks getting the L5P gen2 tuned!

According to Banks, unplugging the Derringer before service will not create any issues.

Understand your relationship with your service advisor and dealer before you tune. Their isn't one operating parameter that GM can't monitor/record nowadays. They've publicly stated they own your data and your asses, so long as it's made by GM. My dealer has to send data to GM, sometimes pictures and videos, in order to perform warranty work, even chicken shit trim work.

My dealer has been very good over the years and I've never pulled a tuner or modifcation on any truck I've had them service in 27 years. I've gotten GM warranty parts and labor after warranty period expired. I doubt that matters now.

This is not the GM of old and most dealers don't care to go to bat for their customers. If you tune, you should have somewhere between $0-15,000 set aside for a new motor and $0-10,000 for a transmission. Remember GM is losing their asses on their 6.2L debacle.......they'll make it up somewhere else and only the customers will foolishly return with cash in hand.
