I slowly started to notice my truck taking a while to cool down and eventually it just started blowing warm air. Had to wait two weeks for dealer to see it and diagnose a faulty evaporator core. Took another week and half to get the part and replace it (which requires dash removal). Yay.

When I finally picked up my truck the first thing I saw were two chunks out of the paint on the drivers side rocker. I opened the door to find more scratches on the lower part of the door jamb as well as the ZR2 sill plate. My floor mats were scuffed up pretty bad, the grab handle was cracked. They also left a huge scratch on my brand new tonneau cover.

This was on a Saturday right before closing, so no Managers were available and my service writer took pictures of everything. I had to come back to the dealer on Monday to speak with Operations Director.

Now im obviously pissed about this and luckily I’ve had a day or two to cool off, but I was surprised by his response. He actually took ownership of the situation. Said they will replace the floor mats, ZR2 badge, grab handle and tonneau cover. And they will repair the paint (body shop on site). So I dropped my truck back off the next day and they put me up in loaner 2025 suburban.

I just picked my truck back up today. Dealership had it for a little over a week this time. The paint issues were corrected and can’t even tell it was fixed or damaged. Tonneau cover was replaced and truck detailed. Floor mats are ordered, and will have to wait for the grab handle and sill plate because they are back ordered.

Not something you expect to go through with a brand new truck. Initially dropped it off June 10th, but I have it back now and the dealer actually addressed everything that was damaged without hesitation.

One thing for sure with these trucks is there's a lot of cheap parts and materials. When one goes, you might have damage to others during the repairs. I've seen it and so have others.

My biggest issue was the paint damage, which just made the smaller issues worse. There’s no way a technician did that and didn’t notice it. I would have at least appreciated them telling me they damaged it when it happened.

It is very unfortunate that, post COVID, no one seems to care about doing quality work...and I am talking about the tech that worked on your truck. He should be fired. Happy for you that the dealership is doing the right thing without a fight!

Your dealership really stood up for you. It's exactly what an owner would expect. As stated above - the technician / employee(s) that caused that damage should be given the choice of paying for a portion/all of the repair work OR quit employment. There is no place for employees who don't give a shit in any business environment.

Agree 100%. Not making excuses.....BUT......He won't get fired because they will play hell to replace him. The shortage of techs in this industry has reached critical mass. Good techs are getting pay raises every 90 days just to keep them in place, because the offers to them from other places keep rolling in, higher and higher.

Damn I’d be livid as hell. Have any of you encountered those rings of bright LED lights with cameras that records your vehicle condition as you drive into the service area? Helps to keep everyone honest but gotta be expensive.

That rocker panel area gets hit all the time getting in and out of truck.
I used the clear carpet protector and peeled it off after a couple months.
Now I use Armor All custom shield. Sprays on clear and protects the area. I use it on areas of my motorcycle to protect from road gravel.
I hope it peels off like they say lol
