So the beta test just got more interesting with GM and Mobil 1 introducing some 0W40 Dexos shenanigans. I assume this was because they needed to address the oil supply conundrum due to the recall.

I now see that GM has all 0W40 Mobil 1 oils listed as Dexos R approved (good for all historic Dexos requirements), which is real convenient for both GM and ExxonMobil. So you can save a lot of $ by running FS or ESP 0W40. Also you can tell the Corvette Supercar 0W40 tax was in full effect for those schmucks.
Found this on Bob's the Oil Guy forum.

Mobil 1 0W40 FS is $5 quart now, hell that's hats a bit cheaper than 0W20.......LMFAO

Damn I paid 14$ a quart for the schaeffer 0-40w. But my local machine milling head work motor guy swears by it. He’s also a local bigwig race car driver and builder. Being a distributor because of the testing he’s personally done and been shown. It’s the only race oil he will use and believes it to be better than even the Amsoil and mobile1

I know guys that will only run Schaeffer!

Well @Byrds8, both 6.2L motors passed the pico test, so you're the last one left standing. If you pass, I'm gonna change my vote to the ZR2 Randos sitting in the shop.........LOL...... get er done!

You wanna get in this poll or nah?
Sure. Sign me up. But I don't think my motor is gonna blow any time soon. But, then again, you never know with these quality GM products.

My POS will probably go soon. On the old oil was up to 1qt per 1000 miles and then with recall they put the "Corvette Oil" in that they were all cheery about. First 1000 miles to the 2k check interval it was half a quart low and then at the 2000 check they said it was just 1/2 Quart. Today at 1500 miles in to my next 2000 observation interval It didn't show up on the dipstick. Took it in and they said it was down a quart. Need to check it again in 2000 miles all cheery. I said it won't make it 2000 miles without me having to bring it in for oil again. What's chevy's stance, are they going to wait until It breaks down on me before they will do anything other than look. Thing is using more F'ing oil than a 73 Plymouth Gold Duster 318 with a bad rear seal I had in high school and everyone is blowing smoke up my azz like this is "normal". Oh, well it's not there yet. I told her I understand, normal GM recall. First, deny a problem, then blame someone else, then delay the fix to reduce cost. "Oh, we've rebuilt plenty of these." "Rebuilt" I side eyed.

I wouldn't have so much of a problem with this if these service people didn't act so casually normal like there isn't a problem and customers are so naive to take their word for it. I guarantee the engine is just grinding itself to death. Wishing now I had bought a Toyota. Last engine recall on their trucks they halted production, sent out new engines to the dealers for all the vehicles in the line affected or not. Headache for the dealers but said a lot to their customers about standing by them.

Snowmobiling season is upon us. My luck this thing will grenade on me out in the middle of Wyoming in a snowstorm and no cell phone service. I hope if that's the case that after my corpse thaws my wife settles with GM with enough cash to put her name on the outside of the Dealership.

Interesting teardown of a 6.2

I drain 5 quarts and save it. Carrynit with you and a funnel in your truck. Run it until it pukes, put 3 quarts back in and then call a tow truck........ you'll be ready for snomobiles in no time.
