Hello all I am new to the forum and before posting i tried searching my specific question and thanks to this forum i have been a little more educated on this issue that honestly is freaking me out a good bit. Last Sunday the tranny finally gave up on my 2009 Tahoe with 215,000 miles. I took Monday off work kinda under the gun and bought a 2023 1500 ZR2 with 49000 miles. I was always very happy with my Tahoes 5.3 but always kinda wished it had the 6.2 in it. With this Zr2 having the 6.2 and me assuming and like a dummy doing no research on the 6.2 i fell in love with the truck and actually was able to talk the salesman down on the price which was probably my first red flag that i ignored. They never mentioned anything about this 6.2 safety recall. I found out about it on the internet the next day. Thanks to this forum and reading up on it. I immediately went out to the garage popped the hood and saw the O-W40 oil cap. So im like well it must of been on the recall list and it must of passed. I got on a website (can’t remember) that you all recommend and put in my vin. This trucks report has a few different gm report numbers that say status complete NHTSA 25V274. With a date of 4-24-25. Recall completed 11-13-25. This report doesn’t say anything anywhere about testing pass or fail? I’m assuming it passed cause it has the new oil cap but anyone including a shady dealership could of slapped that on. Also there is not note or slip in the owners manual. My paperwork does say this SPECIAL COVERAGE N252494003 expires May 10th 2033 or 150100 miles. Am i covered? Anything else i should be doing. Kinda freaking out over this thing hoping i didn’t make a huge mistake. Love the truck and it’s running great though. Sorry for the long opening post

I think they have done the work properly. As part of the recall, they have to report the test results and confirm the ECU software was updated with GM. I don't think they would skip that and not get paid for the warranty work.

I think you will enjoy the truck and with a long motor warranty you have some security. If you want to have some piece of mind, you can pull on oil sample at your next change and send it in for analysis. I have a thread running with numerous people posting very good oil sample results. No guarantees, but it's something to give you some confidence.

I would stick with lower mileage oil change intervals say 3500-5000k max. I like mine at the lower end, cause the additive package held up better.

Also change the fluid on your transfer case, rear differential, and transmission if they have not been dealer serviced.

Okay thank you. I will definitely have an oil sample taken and seems like alot of folks error on the side of caution with the more frequent oil changes. Good call on the diff tranny an xfer case fluid change. I just wanted to make sure there actually is a 10 yr 150000 extra warranty given since recall was serviced and closed. I downloaded the gm app on my phone registered the zr2 and it says it on there too. I’m not really a heavy pedal driver and take care of my vehicles staying on top of maintenance, but right now after reading some horrer stories about this 6.2 im afraid to even goose the throttle on it. I’m shooting and hoping for another 200000 mile + chevy. Fingers crossed

I only have 19k on my 22 and I like to bang some gears using the paddles. They are fun to drive. May as well enjoy it and be confident you can get a new motor.

Also, one of the other best mods is to get a Range Resources DFM and Auto Stop disabler. It is believed to preserve the cam and lifters from early failure and does get rid of the annoying motor shut off.

Did the dealer give you a carfax, that might show it the services have been performed.

The rear diff and transfer case are easy to do. I have a thread posted on those items. Also some videos on YouTube.

I had the dealer do my transmission fluid exchange, cause you have move the exhaust to drop the pan to get to the filter. Its due if it hasn't been done.

Yes the dealership printed me out the carfax. Its clear/clean and shows regular maintenance oil changes air filters brakes fluid changes ect. My chevrolet app says recall service was done 11-9-2025. The carfax report shows 11/13/25 battery/charging system checked, body electrical system checked, oil and filter changed, tire condition checked, tires rotated. Must of been when the recall was completed. Idk?

Yep. That sounds good. I would do those other items and you'll be good for a while.

Thank you guys for the response and reassurance. Maybe i will slap those paddles once or twice now. Lol

Welcome! Don’t worry about the recall, drive it and enjoy the new ride. They are great trucks. Also if you purchased from a GM dealer you should receive GM points that you can use for service, parts or accessories. You may also want to check on a GM extended warranty with all the electronics. We have Dealers that sell GM warranties at discounted prices, Knapp and James Black Cadillac. Just contact them and they will take care of you.

If you do it once, you'll never stop!

There's a rhythm to the shifting to do it smoothly. Once you figure it out, it's s blast. I also love to downshift from L3-L1 rolling into a stop. The compression braking sounds so good with my Magnaflow exhaust. Deep and rumbling like a good V8 should sound.
