Question for all

Has anyone here successfully managed to trigger a relay for auxillary lights using signal from the high beams? I have a few ideas, but nothing concrete.

One of the options is a harness with a trigger wire spliced into it that fits into the back of a headlight and plugs into the factory harness. I would route the trigger wire to a relay- the aux lights would be powered direct to the battery.

I have heard that these systems are sensitive, but to my limited knowledge of electrical systems I cant imagine how this (stealing a few milliamps) could cause issues for the light or control module.

Another spitball idea is wiring a current sensitive relay to 1 of the headlight fuses that only triggers when volts at the fuse exceed a certain value (assuming the high beams draw more current than the low beams or drl).

Anyone got any ideas or thoughts on my ideas?

Thanks for your help!

Why not just use the boost auto kit for running the mirror lights with high beams? Auto high still works. I have it on mine for the mirror lights. If I add a light bar I'll just tap into the same harness for the signal wire for the bar. Would make it very simple.
Btw if you don't want the mirror lights to come on with highbeams. You could still use the kit. Just don't connect it to the mirror lights. You would just use it as a trigger for the light bar.
