So I thought I'd share for anyone looking to do away with the bose system all together. I put new systems in a couple ZR2's now. But both times I kept the bose amp and just added a DSP to try and tune out the Bose EQ that comes out of the factory amp. Worked pretty good, but a hassle and you are still taking a signal that has been adjusted and amped. Then readjusting it and sending through another amp. So not the best method. BUT today I got a Pac Audio interface in and got it installed this afternoon. This box replaces the Bose amp. Doesn't apply a weird Bose EQ to the signal and you can adjust the truck chimes level! It's plug and play and has low level, high level and optic outputs for your own amps. I played around with everything for a while and everything seems to work great. Good option if you want to do away with the Bose stuff.
Just a FYI Pac audio doesn't list it as compatible with our HD trucks. I emailed them about this before I ordered and they said it wasn't listed because they haven't been able to test it in one yet. So they just didn't know if it would work or not. But the infotainment is exactly the same as it is in the refreshed 1500s. I've had them both completely apart and its all the same hardware, so I figured it would work. Sure enough, everything works like it should, Phone calls, chimes all the audio. I'm still going to tune my DSP some. But right out of the box with just the PAC installed the audio quality is way better then the bose amp on aftermarket speakers. ignore the mess. I didn't have everything installed as I was testing it to see if it worked when I took the picture. Pac Interface I purchased mine through crutchfield, It was cheaper then what Pac has it listed for on their website. Crutchfield also says it won't work on a HD, But it will.
