I like to mod stuff, especially if factory stuff is available (hence why I have a 22 LT on ZR2 suspension). I dove into a long and decently spendy project to convert my non-functional hood vent into a fully functional one using parts for the diesel truck. Fake scoops bother me and are for Toyotas and Mustangs.

Anyhoo, the project is possible and is mostly drop in albeit some custom steps are required. Full details can be found in the thread here.

Nice work!

What actuates it, meaning, RPM or accelerator pedal position, or? Is it always breathing?

It's always breathing. That plug in the bottom driver corner is a debris release. If enough water was to be ingested the rubber "lips" would open from the weight of it and purge it out. Otherwise, you unscrew the whole port to clean out leaves or whatever other debris gets in there. Nothing ever does as far as I've seen.

The whole shebang probably lowers IATs a bit at speed under demand which could prevent timing pull, otherwise without engine mods it probably doesn't add any power or mileage. Just for cool factor for now.

Same as my Duramax. I was also wondering if it had enough input to cause positive pressure in the airbox at a certain speed...Ram-air effect.
