It was a pretty good run...

2024 6.2 gasser made it all the way to 20K miles with zero problems. Passed the PICO test about a month ago, and until yesterday not a stitch of trouble with the truck.

Started it up after work yesterday and the engine light pops up. The Chevy app diagnostic pings me with an emissions service message. So as you all know, remote start is disabled when the check engine light is displayed. It's been in the single digits at night here, so I have to go out and start it. Get to work, put it in park and the "service transmission" message pops on the screen.

Service has no availability to look at it until the day after Christmas...

Wondering if there is any merit to clearing the codes and see if it throws them out again?

Hey, at least I made it 20K miles relatively trouble free!

Me personally, I always clear codes before I do anything else. Especially when there's high/low temps outside or I've run it real hard and throw codes. I'm also one of those guys that sees fluids getting thinner and thinner used in these trucks and any fluctuation in the environment seems to confuse anyone of the 3,764,909 sensors they put in these rigs.

These days it feels as though you fart in the wrong direction and the electronics go bonkers.

I'd clear the codes and check your battery. Seen several posts on facebook here lately about the dash lighting up. You might just have a weak battery and the cold is doing what it does. It's about that time for a battery. Lucky to get 4 years out of them now days.

If its otherwise running fine, I would clear them as well. Before I did that, I would verify the actual codes and screenshot them for reference. Then I'd check the battery and charging sysyem.

This doesn't sound like a motor failure, but please remember that when the motor goes, you can lose the propulsion, electronics, braking all at the same time. That can be very risky in traffic or certain roads. Make sure you dont have the P0016 code.

cleared the codes - was not the P0016. Engine light remained on. Now getting the dash message "Service Transmission Now" "Unable to shift soon". Battery function is normal at rest, at charge, and at operation. No other additional electrical issues. Called the dealership back and pressed them for a sooner date - now waiting to hear back on a loaner vehicle. Service manager did state that he has never seen any shift failure even with that message displayed, but did recommend limited usage until it could be looked at.

Let us know how this turns out

Probably the bad valve body issue. I have seen some people say they have made improvements in the replacement parts. Not sure I can confirm that, just some comments I've seen posted.
