Yes. Exactly correct.If you read the article below. Near the end it says if you pass the inspection you get the extended warranty. If you fail and get a replacement engine you don’t get the extended warranty with the replacement engine.

I agree. Seems like a big jump to 0w40. The oil geek said they used to use 5w30 which I might go with.Good video! I always thought it was a safe bet to run a higher viscosity for severe duty use. I would say in Arizona with temps around 110-115, a higher viscosity oil would be better.
Like @TexOffroader said, why the big jump though? Why not just 0W30? That still a bit of a head scratcher. To me, it just further indicates that we have bad bearings and cams and they are worn more than normal for the age of the vehicles. GM just buying some time, no real magic.
