New Supercharger, Lift and Wheels

I've been shopping for a small dual sport bike. Kawasaki KLX 300 and honda CRF 300.
Decided to buy used since nobody offered a discount and had $1500 in fees on a $5500 bike.
While i was at kawi this was there.
The one pictured was all the accessories, $60k otd.
The base one was $37k and $42k otd.
Did you have to deal with all the fees?

A lot of these dealers are now owned by car dealerships and other corporate money grabbers, so I see a lot of bullshit fees. I tend to see less fees with independent dealers, albeit they are harder to find. I got some off both the price of the car and fees, bit it was just an OK deal. Nothing to brag about. The real kicker for me was they gave me mid book on my trade and I was ready to move on after owning it for 6+ years. Tax and street legal fees here are absurd and added $5k+, so I still paid way more than I would have liked. Haven't regretted it yet, cause it sure is fun.....LOL.

I am seeing a lot of people posting much better deals on these rigs than when they were released in September. In fact, I see some people posting OTD prices around the MSRP, which isn't too bad. Like anything, shop around and negotiate.

I bought a CRF 450RL two summers ago from a small dealer and was OTD a few hundred under MSRP and thought that was a good deal for street legal tags. This past summer I bought another CRF450RL (same year) with 500 miles on it and $2k of accessories for $1500 less. That was a great deal and saved about $3k all in.

I am thinking about buying a Kawasaki 300R and putting a fat tire kit on it from BVC Offroad. Check out their website, they are cool bikes, but you're into it for $9k with the kit for a bit of a niche bike.

You can't go wrong with a 300R or CRF300RL. Great bikes and there's tons of aftermarket parts and they are easy to maintain. I hope you find a deal and get one. After a few rides you won't even think about it anymore and they'll hold their value when your ready to move on.

I've shopped around. Mainly doing the online quotes through kawi and honda.
Trying to get someone to call me has been brutal. Either nobody calls back or i have to keep asking.
It's a joke. I even sent an email to Kawi corporate saying that I can't even get a call back.
One dealer wanted my photo ID to get a quote.
When I tell them i will pass then they want my business.

We looked at a Polaris Xpedition. Dealer in Flagstaff didn't tell me the sale price was $4000 less and they added $6000 in fees on top of sales tax.

Looking at a couple used CRF 250s. 2018 and 2019. One with 700 miles and one with 107 miles. They are at msrp of a new one but still save me $2000. Both never off road and mint.

The H2 should qualify for primarily off road being under 2500#. Did you get full street use? That would be full VLT vehicle license tax for registration. I bet about $800 a year.
I pay the $4.50 primarily off road for my Polaris xp1000.

The weight of the H2 is just over 2500 lbs. I'm paying full song for license tax and they wouldn't even issue an OHV sticker, so I'm waiting to get questioned on that on the trails.

One thing to be mindful with the CRF 250 is that's essentially a race bike and requires a lot more maintenance. So expect to be doing a new top end every 40-60 hours or so. The 300 is tuned for longevity and durability so maintenance intervals and costs are a lot less.

If your shopping for a Kawasaki, I would call Kelly's Kawasaki in Mesa. They are still independent and had the cheapest fees on the H2. I have bought from them in the past and had good luck.

I guess, that's what my DMV paperwork showed. They sent in the paperwork for the OHV tag and I did not get one. They said it was because it exceeded the weight limits. It's like running a jeep on the trails.

I thought that as long as it was considered an ATV, it good to go. We used to plate our dirt bikes and it got us out of buying a sticker. Those days are gone! The BLM realized that they were losing a lot of money, LOL.
Oh well, it was cheap for liability and the plate wasn't too bad either. The money helps BLM!

Our OHV tags are administered by the Arizona Department Of Game and Fish. I think the rules are rigs under 1800 lbs. Otherwise if you're licensed for road use, you can operate

The only areas BLM and Forest Service requires fees are some some "developed" recreational lands like the Imperial Sand Dunes in Southern California. Then you have to buy a weekly or annual pass. They do provide emergency, garbage, and restroom services, so I dont think the fees are unreasonable.

I think Moab does as well. Canyonlands in general require ab OHV. But I think they can tag their SXS vehicles. I got away with a plat back when I rode dirt, but I would just buy a sticker today. Not worth the hassle. I don't mind donating to keep trails open.

You cannot license any kind of ATV in Colorado. But in a lot of small mountain towns with rentals, they really do not bother people, I heard?

Yeah, I wish I had the tag. It's only $25 and I got a suspicion I'm gonna get hassled by an officer that doesn't know the rules.

Utah has some of the best ATV laws a d Arizona is pretty good, so is North Dakota.

The 1800# has been upgraded to 2500#.
