Need to replace my ‘22 ZR2’s original OE tires. Been reading many posts, but I’m wanting a good looking replacement that looks bad ass, but has a smooth, quiet ride if possible? Don’t want tire rub, not interested in going with new rims. Pretty much like the stock setup. Just like an off road look. My off road these days are some tame forest roads. Toyo’s? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

You can go with a meatier tire but I've seen a lot of folks here add some wheel spacers if your not up to change the wheels. Making the stance a bit wider looks 100% better. You can go a size up or wider with the spacer and it looks great. Look around here, should see a ton of info on diff tires. I run the Toyo Open Country RT Trails and like them, but read about the tires guys have. Some are quieter and some not so much. The Toyos seem pretty quiet to me, personal preference. Good luck!

Bora seems to be the go to one from what I read. Remember, it'll swing your tire out a bit when doing that, keep an eye on full lock each side, you may need some touch up minor trimming based on tire you pick. I also had my original wheels powder coated black and they looked great. Ran them that way for a while before the wheel change.

Really changes the look with blacked out. Stock wheels and tires and pretty inexpensive

Toyos are generally pretty good for low noise with big lugs.

If you don't want to do a lot of trimming or have rubbing issues, there are some good options. There's an entire thread dedicated to tires and wheels. That should help.

Check out @KLA setup. He runs some spacers and Aturro tires on stock rims and they look pretty good. I think the Mickey Thompson Baja ATZs also look good.

Nitto Ridge Grapplers 285x70x18 quiet, tad bigger and minimal road noise. I used to run BFG KO2s but the balancing issues pushed me to a new direction and I love the Nitto's

I can only speak for what I have read here as I don't use them, changed wheels to 17's with 0 offset. If you keep it aligned for tire wear, the wheel on the spacer doesn't sound like it'll cause the wear and tear issue based on what I have read. I'm not one for cutting lugs either, may be options that don't require that. I waited and just went with new wheels because I wanted 17".

There are a lot of great options in tires these days.

One consideration with regards to wanting a smooth ride is the load range of the tire. A stiffer sidewall will affect that. I'm not sure what came on your year ZR2 but if it was the Goodyear M/T that is a load range C if I recall and that's a pretty soft sidewall. You'll notice a difference if you get a that has a different load range.

I run Toyo RT Trails in 295/70/R18 and they are Load Range E 10 ply rated for 4000 lbs each. They have been very good and compliant. I actually think the heavier sidewalls improves the handling in some situations.

It all comes down to how each tire is designed or the manufacturer and what you use it for. You never really know what you get until you run it. I have seen slightly different performance on the same brand and model tire.

Some tire places like Discount Tire will swap them out if you don't like them. I did that with a set of Nittos that I thought were wobbly when towing heavy.

Agreed Axe! I as well have the toyos 10ply E rated. With the 285s I ran at 36 lbs, now with the 35s I run about 33 lbs. doesn’t seem to affect the ride but I don’t remember how the stock ones were now. It’s not bumpy and excellent when airing down for off road. Now the off-roading made a huge difference with the 17” wheels and tires.

I put falken wildpeaks 4w on. Stock size e load. They were so much quieter than the oem Goodyears. Ride is good at 50 psi. I think they look pretty darn good too!
