Older ZR2 owner wanting new tires for his ‘22 ZR2 - need help

I put falken wildpeaks 4w on. Stock size e load. They were so much quieter than the oem Goodyears. Ride is good at 50 psi. I think they look pretty darn good too!
Why do you run them at that high pressure? Is that recommended?

What I've learned is that E rated tires take less pressure for normal use. I went from C (stock) to an E tire and dropped 4+ pounds. Used that tire pressure load rating site and it gave me a great starting point. Maybe each brand is a bit different?

By whom? Standard pressure for a 1500 is usually in the 34-38 psi range. Obviously more if you loaded with cargo or towing.
The tire manufacturer suggested 55 and my local guy that puts all my tires on suggested 50.

Have you tried out that tire load calculator for PSI? It would be interesting to see if it coincided with what they say, just for curiosity.

I’ve seen psi recommendations from 35 to 60 for e load tires (unloaded). I felt the ride was always good with my previous e load tires so that’s what I put in now. I could always do the chalk test

That's true, and if you like the ride who am I to say lol. I tried my E rating tires up over 44 and it sucked, followed every line in the road. I chalk tested and found it to be 33-34 now with the 35 x 17 E's I have now, also the calculator recommended as well. Bump it up a few when loaded.

Look on the side of the tires and see what it says max psi. If you are running 50 psi cold, they are 54-55 psi warm. That seems like it would be hard and cause the tires to be less compliant and looser, especially on unsaved surfaces.

I run my Toyos at 35-37 psi cold, so they get up to to 40 psi running. That seems plenty stiff.

I run my 2500HD tires at 50-53 psi cold unladen. It calls for 55 psi. I only run max when I'm loaded and towing.

Maybe what I think is a good ride could be better with less psi.

I ran mine through the calculator. I'm not sure they have the load specs right on my Toyos (they are 4000 lbs), but it came back with a slightly lower psi recommendation.l than stock I've tested different psi and just went bac to the GM recommendation on the door jam.

what size spacers are you running? I have been on the fence for awhile now but my biggest concern is the premature wear & tear on the hub assembly and also potentially having to shave down lug nut studs.
Not running any spacers. Completely OE stock currently.

Great info from all. Thanks!👍 Getting close to having to put some new ones on. I have just over 42K now and I'm pleased with the wear time on the stock GY MT. BUT they are not good on wet paved roads and not snow rated. I'm thinking about the same set up as @AXE .

You can go with a meatier tire but I've seen a lot of folks here add some wheel spacers if your not up to change the wheels. Making the stance a bit wider looks 100% better. You can go a size up or wider with the spacer and it looks great. Look around here, should see a ton of info on diff tires. I run the Toyo Open Country RT Trails and like them, but read about the tires guys have. Some are quieter and some not so much. The Toyos seem pretty quiet to me, personal preference. Good luck!
Like this.....2 inch spacers with a meatier tire.

Take a look at the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac RT... I put a set on when my MT's started making all kinds of road noise and I've been incredibly pleased with them from a wear, traction, and noise perspective. I've got about 27K miles on them so far, I just keep them rotated with every oil change.

once i pick up my 2026 ZR2 in Feb im going to be changing out the stock tires for a better snow rated and road rated AT I go into the snow alot more then the mud. This is what Im getting.

Bfgoodrich ALL-Terrain T/A KO3 Tires LT305/70R18 F

Going to be selling the stock tires too if anyone is in the OC, SB County areas and interested.

How long have you been running spacers? Have you seen any wear & tear on suspension components at all? I'm stuck because I want the wider stance and I like the stock wheels but have read up on the cons of wheel spacers... so either go with new wheels or stay on the cheaper end and get a set of bora spacers.
Been running the 2 inch spacers for almost 2 years now and no problem whatsoever.
