I have only had this truck for about 20 months and this tonneau was installed by the dealer prior to my purchase. The rear seam on the first fold is cracking really badly on both sides. I don't use this tonneau much, but the rear is the one that flips up the most often. It's also outside in the extreme AZ sun a lot.

I didn't notice this the last time I washed it a week or so ago. Seems like it happened very abruptly. I had it overnight at the dealer last week.......hmmmm!

I'm surprised it's this much of a POS as shown in these photos. I might try and get some parts to fix it. I was wondering if it had warranty through the manufacturer or dealer. I never buy accessories from the dealer, so have no idea.

Holy crap, that looks like something was left on top and then folded, .
Sorry to hear that

I would think if it was on the window sticker, it would carry a warranty through GM.

Oh wow that sucks. I have that exact cover on mine. Hope this isnt what I have to look forward to.

It was on the build sticker. I guess I'll have to talk to my service advisor. I just had it there last week for software recalls. Cant believe I didn't see it before, it looks like the Grand Canyon.

I find it hard to believe I never noticed this before. I notice every rock chip. I swear some blimey bastard at the dealer swapped it with mine. I'm gonna be doing some more investigating when it gets light out.

REV and BAK are one and the same! They use the REV moniker on the GM stuff.

I have this exact cover, 3.5 years old in December and it is holding up pretty well, no cracks like that on mine and I open it quite often. I think you may be right, the hot AZ sun? Have you kept UV stabilizer/protectant on it?

I've only treated it a couple times, but none of the other plastic or rubber is cracking. I think it's a defect in the rubber material since I've flipped it up so little. Seem like quite a few complaints like this on this tonneau dating back to 2017.

They claim 5 year warranty on their website, but there's a lot wiggle words. I think I'll have to go through dealer.

I remember looking at the warranty specifically when I was trying to decide, it said it was a NON GM warranty and the manufacturer warranty was 3/36, whichever came first. Good luck @AXE, and please update us with what you find out.

Get you a DiamondBack and you will never have to worry about something like that again. They have the new trifold model or go whole-hog and get the HD. Absolutely love mine and with a 2k lb weight rating your not going to hurt it.

Those are nice, but not my style tho! I use the bed of my truck for a lot of cargo. I sometimes need it moved forward or removed entirely. I prefer this one I put on my 2500HD for that reason. But it's made by the same company and has years of complaints for separation of the material that holds the aluminum slats together. It'll probably be a POS soon too. If it does, these might be the first and last ones I own.

Well, I got the green weenie again today on my tonneau cover replacement. I am now 6 months in and 5 dealer visits.

The dealer ordered me a new tonneau after my first visit. A while later I go in to have it replaced and GM wont approve the warranty without more documentation. So they sent in pictures and then GM said no warranty yet, you have to send video too. Go back to get video and GM says no warranty you have to go to equipment manufacturer Real Trucks, even though this turd was on my sticker. So I go back again and Real Trucks says we need more pictures.......WTF. So they send in pictures to Real Truck and the lady says, yep got them "it looks like warranty", but it will take 4 to 6 weeks to approve.....WTF. Finally after a month they approve it, but will not ship a whole new cover, just the cover and no rails. It takes several days to ship to dealer.

Go into the dealer today and the gawd damned tonneau is too wide to fit inside the rails by about 1.5 inches. They bring me back to show me the measurements. I couldn't fucking believe it. I took pictures of the box and it has a GM part number and it says its correct. I can only surmise there was a change in the rails or the tonneau that was packaged was for a different truck.

So now I wait again, but this time with no tonneau on my rig, cause the rear flap is now completely detached after they took it off.

Real Trucks had bad parts in AMP steps too. They have some shitting packing departments.

So to add to the story, end last year my Dad installed one of those rolling tonneau covers like I did on my 2500HD. He was driving down the road and the gawd damned thing flew up like superman's cape and slapped back down and bent it all to hell. He calls Real Truck and they say "oh, the Ram's need shim kit or it won't stay put". He says, there wasn't a shim kit when i bought it. I think they added that after they figured out they had a manufacturing defect. They did send him a new cover and a shim kit after he raised hell. These guys seem like they run a real clown show.

We just bought a new 3500 dually and I've ordered about $1000 of new accessories with more to go. I made good and damn sure I didn't order them from Real Trucks.......fuck those guys.

Yep Real Truck confirmed today they changed the rails and bed cover design. So now they are gonna send a full kit for install.....no shit!

I had the Rev cover on my 1500 and folded it quite a bit, you could see the fold creases...more like a smooth dip in the rubber, very lightly but no cracks. The 2500 has the Real Truck Advantage on it...Will be folding it this weekend...But that Rev cover of yours has been a serious case of heartburn for ya AXE...🤬...I feel for ya man, hope ya get it straightened out soon, I just hope my new cover stays somewhat trouble free.🤞

What a nightmare. I went with the Peragon cover. I like that it can be removed easily to be able to utilize the full length of the bed, but don't like how it collapses from front to back. It removes the front portion of the bed for use because it binds on whatever is there as it collapses. None of them are perfect I suppose. Hope the incoming is better for you @AXE.
