Hey all,

Just wondering what ya’ll were doing for maintenance intervals for your front/rear diffs, transfer case? 30-50-60k?

I use 4 wheel drive quite a bit and want to know what the common service mileage is for most of you.

I’m pretty comfortable in the past on other trucks doing 50-60k before servicing.

Thanks,
Mark

I do mine much earlier and more frequently than the manual calls forb on all my rigs. 25-30k is pretty normal for me after the first one.

I do the first one sooner to get rid of metal fillings. Also if your'e using 4x4 often, you're are presumably in dusty, muddy, wet conditions then it is subjectnto more contaminantion.

Same for the transmission and transfer case.

I'll bet a lot of people never change them, or dont know they have them.......LOL.

By servicing you mean oil change only or there are cleaning involved as well?

Thanks Axe, since you do all yours personally I’m guessing you’re just using vacuum to remove old fluid and then just add new? Have you ever removed diff covers, replaced magnets, or installed drain plugs with heavier magnetic?

ZR2, I don’t think even the dealers remove covers any longer. At least in the states, I wish they did like they used to back in the day and removed covers and cleaned.

Just fyi, I put a lot of miles on trucks yearly. I’ve only had this truck since 8-11 and I’ve already hit 10k miles.

So while I do a lot of off road, there are a lot of highway miles as well.
