So, I'm trading my '24 ZR2 that had the engine pop earlier this summer on a '25 diesel tomorrow morning. Deal's been made, down payment paid . . . well, deal's been made to a point but the dealer screwed up and left it online and dropped the price an additional $1700 on the online price, so we're negotiating that faux pas on their part now. Felt pretty good about the deal they're giving me, but if I can get another $1700 off, great.

Anyhoo, per the norm, they're trying to sell me on an extended warranty. Is it worth it? I guess nobody knows until, and if, it's needed.

I plan to keep this truck for years. I'll likely put under 10K miles a year on it, mainly will be used to tow boat to/from Chesapeake, a 360 mile round trip, several times a summer. They offered an 8 year 80000 bumper to bumper for $3280. I told him to cut it in half and I'd buy it. He came down to $2K and said they'd make $180 on it. That's when I dropped the $1700 price difference between today and yesterday on him. He said let's put this on hold and let me talk to the salesman and sales manager to see what we can do. So, buy the extened 80/80000 warranty for $2K, or ain't worth it? The diesel gets 5 year 100K power train and the standard 3/36 bumper to bumper.

Yes, yes, for you 6.2 fans, I love the the engine, the power, the sound. I just don't trust this one anymore after all the stories I've both heard and read of people going though 2 or 3, in one case, 5 engines. And, I get around 9 mpg over 360 miles pulling the boat and, based on talking to other diesel owners, I should get around 16 or better with the diesel.

Do NOT buy your warranty from your dealer before seeing what Knapp can do. Call Knapp and get a quote from them.

In addition, if they dropped the price $1700, why would they not give that to you??? If they won't give it to you, walk away!

I just ran the platinum numbers on the Knapp website and it came back at $2342 cost for an 8 year 80000 mile warranty, so if I can get it for $2K, sounds like a decent deal.

I'm waiting on a call from them on the $1700.

If you’re buying the warranty from your dealer, make sure they are selling a genuine GM Warranty and not a third party warranty. If it is a genuine GM Platinum warranty, why not go 96 months, 100,000. I went with Knapp with my 2022 and again with my 2024.

Congrats…I’ve had both, both were solid options for different use cases, needs, etc. I think you’ll enjoy it, I’ve very much appreciated it (18k miles on the 3.0 currently)

Knapp sells the genuine GM warranty for half the price of the dealers. They also do a zero percent financing option for twelve months. Dealers lately seem to be pushing third party warranties like Ally for double the price

As stated before the warranty is worth it just due to all the electronics in these newer trucks.

^^^^^ This
and check a couple others if you have time
Hope it works out
bought the warranty from the dealer. got it for $2K flat and Knapp was a bit over $2300 for the same one. dealer started at $3820, i think, and told them they'd have to cut it in half. he said the best he could do was $2K and after checking the knapp website, went with the dealers.

it is a GM extended warranty, so happy with that.

i read the online price drop wrong friday, it wasn't $1700, it was a $700 price drop. on the original price they had included $1K "dealer trade assist" but removed that when they dropped the price. they did honor that number, so I got the additional off.

loved the 6.2 for the raw power and noise in race mode (performance mode, but i think race mode sounds better). going to love this one for the fuel mileage. think i've indicated previously that the main reason i had the other one and now this one, is pulling a boat 360 round trip miles 8 to 10 times a summer. 9 mpg with the 6.2 vs likely 15 or 16 with the diesel while towing. and, diesel cost less than 93 octane. in the end, the 6.2 is much more fun to drive, the diesel is much more efficient. guess i've officially hit the old man status, i'm more worried with efficiency than performance. :(

this one has a couple bells and whistles the other one didn't have (tech package which i really like with the adaptive cruise, rear view camera, and headsup display, it has the rear underseat storage box, and multiflex tailgate, which i really don't care about).

other one was the darker gray, this one is white. like the gray better, but the white is fine.

Was reviewing exclusions and figured I'd share what I found. There's a check box on the CPP service contract for Lift/Tire Surcharge, limit is 6"/35". I did send Knapp a question if there's any provisions available for 37s, since that's what if have on the HD.

G. Lift Kit/Tire Modification SurchargeMid-size SUVs and trucks are allowed up to a 4 inch lift and a tiremodification of up to 33 inches. Full-size trucks and SUVs areallowed up to a 6 inch lift and a tire modification of up to 35 inches. For vehicles with tire modifications including oversized rims, thissurcharge allows for a up to a 2 inch increase in rim diameter. Inorder to be eligible for this surcharge, the lift kits/tiremodifications must be installed by the manufacturer orauthorized dealer. The Lift Kit/Tire Modification surchargemust be selected on the Information Schedule. The odometermust be recalibrated to reflect the true mileage due to themodification in order for Your Vehicle to be eligible forcoverage. Any modification to Your Vehicle that voids theoriginal manufacturer's warranty will not be covered by thisService Contract.

Note: Since this is a "Service Contract" I don't believe the Moss-Magnusson Act applies that would limit the exclusion to just direct wear/damage caused by the aftermarket part.

Here's the sample CPP contract from the Chevy site:

Sounds like an easy out for them! There's currently no way to adjust the speed and odometer based on tire size. You'll have to spend another $1000-1500 on a tuner and then they'll ding you for having a "tuned" truck.

Yup, looks like a no go from Knapp like I expected, they sent me the same clause when I asked about 37s.
