Just got my new Silverado 3 months ago, went to change the oil and googled online what weight to use. Found a GM Bulletin to use 0-40 weight than the original recommended 0-20 weight.
So, then I noticed, there was a KBB kelly Blue Book recall site to punch in your vin number to see if there was any Open Recalls.
Found, there was 3, It did not list what the Open recalls were.
It did suggest one of the local GM dealerships near me was available to contact.
So, I made this appointment by calling them, the service dept guy said, bring it in there's no charge, and they would either replace the motor or change the oil at least after inspection of the motor.
So, I brought the truck in, left the keys, Walked away, 15-20 minutes later, I received a Call from them to come pick up the truck.
The Service Guy said, There is no remedy for this, and they would contact me, and never asked for any current address or email before leaving the conversation.
Completely took me off guard from what his original conversation to bring it in, and there was a remedy to at least change the oil at the very least.
Called the guy back at GM dealership, asked when to expect to hear from them, and offered my address, he told me oh, that was intelligent, then proceeded to say, they would contact me.
Another guy on a forum somewhere, told me the GM dealerships changed his right away, and said the reason why they are using and recommending 0-40 weight oil is to prolong the life expectancy past the 36 month warranty on the motor. By using a heavier weight oil, it will help this issue. Also my personal thoughts were, that is why these vehicles were sold with the limited speed to not exceed 98 MPH engaged or activated, and that Propulsion has something to do with this test, and the Crank on these L87 Motors is the issue, they were made wrong to wrong specifications on the Crank as if it is hitting or not clearing something, not sure on that part.
The Dealership I purchased this one was a Ford Dealership, and when sold to me, they said they would help me if GM would not, yet they magically dont remember that part of their sales pitch, and not disclosing the open recalls on the engine, after I specifically asked if there were any known issues on this vehicle, they said none.
Now, the Ford Dealership was actually helping me to get rid of my 2018 Silverado due to GM Dealerships not warrantying their second Transmission in 10 months.
They told me that I have a bumper to bumper warranty on the Power Train? Ford Dealership any GM dealership could do it, for the Powertrain warranty. yet there would be some deductable and some material things like gaskets etc small stuff, and labor was included. Also, heard Ford would void the warranty if they worked on it or serviced the GM Silverado ZR2 Truck I own., and that Ford could charge anything outside of GM warranty because they are not authorized or allowed to perform Warranty work as well as honor that Powertrain warranty.
So, it seems like GM is going to get away with making the safety recall on these motors expire before they have to do anything, and NO the GM Dealership did not leave me any inspection invoice, and leave any evidence they checked the Motor or inspected it. but lied and said there was no Remedy for it.
It only had 11k miles on it then, it now has 18k miles on the motor.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to deal with this issue or have any experience or advice? what are my options besides a Lemon Law Attorney or find some form of Recall enforcment for a safety recall ? and the other two recalls the GM dealership said one was addressed, and the other he didn't even mention or bring up?
Sorry for the long winded story.
but my last experience with my last Silverado 2018 was a nightmare. Thank You all in advance for taking the time to read and respond.
