5th Wheel Campers

You can tow with it with any 5th wheel hitch. They all do pretty much the same thing. There's a lot of new gadgets and bullshit, but there's more miles logged on basic 5th wheel setups than anything. My Dad's always used the mid level B&W hitches and they seem to be pretty good .

Etrailer and YouTube have tons of videos on them. Watch them and decide. You'll need air bags before you need an expensive hitch.

I've heard great things about B&W. I know someone makes a truly plug and play drop in hitch specifically designed for our trucks but I never paid attention to who the manufacturer was. If I do this, I'll be getting the air bags you highly recommended!

If you have a factory prep package installed, great. If you don't...I'll go look for that pic of the local RV dealer that recently drilled through a body harness on a brandy new '25 High Country. You can use it as an example of how not to put one in.

So the Pullrite is about $2500. I don't have any issues with that but what else out there is drop in comparable our trucks that also has the Superglide capability? Never towed so looking to you experts that know it all ;)

Why do you desire the glide feature? It has some advantages, but is mostly not necessary to tow any 5th wheel. I'd spend $1800 on bags and $500 on a used hitch.

With all the snowbirds in Florida, I'd look for a pre-owned one for sale in your local market. Everyone that's ever bought a camper, realized what a giant pain in the ass it is and many don't make it to year two. May as well take advantage of it.

Thanks Axe...I was reading up on the topic and read that many folks feel that the glide feature is worth the extra money and highly recommended that option. If you all think it's BS...I trust you all that have towed heavy stuff for years. I just want to ensure that it's a drop in designed to fit right into the factory mounting holes as I have heard that several need to be "modified" where some are designed to OEM spec like the Pullrite. You are correct on looking at preowned units. I just want to settle on a quality manufacturer that you all highly recommend that will fit without issues or mods.

I wouldn't say its BS, it's just not necessary. You can always upgrade later.

I tow a lot of stuff, but haven't logged many miles on 5ers or goosenecks. But the ones I have used weren't anything special and the tow rig made the most difference. In one case; it was a Ram dually and you hardly knew it was towing.

Maybe you can work a deal on a hitch with your camper. I would guess they have several options. Otherwise, may want to go to Camping World or another trailer parts dealer and talk to someone about some of the options. Also don't hesitate to drive through some RV parks and talk to some guys about their setup. You'll find some guy that's had several and he'll tell you what you need to know. I sort of like to speak directly with someone and look at the product, especially when it costs a lot.

This looks like a nice unit...thoughts? If you have any recommendations, please post links so I can dig a bit deeper. Thanks guys!

Yep those are similar to the ones my Dad used. I can tell you one thing, those are probably one of the most widely used hitches. They are heavy duty too. I've lifted one of those bastards in and out ofvthe bed and they are solid ass country!

I'm going to call BW tomorrow and discuss my options and ask about their slider model. It's a manual slider where the Pullrite is an auto slider. May not need this at all, but the Pullrite is $800 more than the BW slider. Trying to do my homework as anal engineer to make sure I make an educated decision.
