****6.2 RECALL HAS BEEN RELEASED*****TSB NEEDED

A little sand in the motor during break in never hurt anyone, just loosens up the tolerances a bit for better performance and longevity. Probably why nobody can beat me up to 98 mph.

They are gonna have to pry my motor from my cold dead hands. It runs like a top and I've spent a lot of time and $ breaking it in properly, maintenance, oil analysis, etc.
100%! I've spent a lot of time and energy to break this motor in right, 36500 right now and running good. I love the truck and the motor and I'm not jumping ship to change brands or trade in for newer. If you spend your life chasing a brand that may be better at this, or better at that, you'll be buying trucks the rest of your life. I bought it because I love the truck, show me a manufacturer that doesn't have a recall or problem. If it breaks they will fix it, just have to live my life and deal with what comes. Some times you have to F with the d*ck God gave you. The failure "may" occur. Take care of your rig right, and hopefully it doesn't grenade when I'm in the Sierras! You know how long it took me to get those squadrons in the front bumper! I'll light them up when the tow truck drives me around. Keeping the truck, not for sale.

I'm not sure i wanna change the oil to 0W40 unless someone can tell me why it's gonna solve a problem that may never exist. They should do a better job telling customers why its important. Otherwise, it just seems like a lawsuit CYA.

I’m surprised it went to a 40 to begin with. I think 30 would be fine and probably should have had to begin with. But, from something I read this morning, 0W40 Supercar shears down to 30 anyway.

The extended warranty is pretty damn good. I didn't think they would go that far, but ol' Mary Bad Bearings Barra must have heard the natives were getting restless on the interwebs. That's why I was saying before, people have to raise hell or we'll continue to get served the green weenie or drive a Furd!

Yes, cya. “Well, we suggested you go to 40 weight, unfortunately you didn’t so I’m sorry to say we can’t cover the damage.”

You run enough sand in your 0W20 and it definitely improves the shear strength. It's harder than steel apparently!

Why wonder? It will or won’t. But almost anything can be that way. No way to live for sure.
Well understand your point however, when you are on a long trip like the ones I frequently go on it decides to let go on my wife's 25 (know it is not included) Tahoe or the daughters 24 Escalade it can be a significant issue. May be 70 miles from a dealer when it is 115 in a dust storm so it can give one pause. Fortunately for me when something is suspect can just replace it with something that is not as suspect with known issues.

To each his own with risk and reward being considered carefully.

I did a 3000 mile round trip to hunt and my biggest concern was whether I would run out of beef jerky and Fritos between gas stops and where i was gonna pull off to let my dog stretch her legs and piss!

The only thing I see that's suspect is your logic and you can't seem to change that!

Ok. I finally got some answers on this. The reason for the no resolution answer is that the recall is not open yet. It’s coming but the dealers can’t open a ticket for reimbursement from GM until they get the go ahead. Once the mailers go out, the recall is considered open to those vehicles that receive the mailer since due to inventory it may be done in batches similar to the Tanaka? airbag recall. So basically, we’re ahead of the curve.

Yep, letters coming soon. Mary still proofreading them to ensure bonus is secured.

From what I understand the 0-20w is just because of the EPA. They swapped to these thin oils to eek out extra fuel economy. Was never about protecting the engine or maximizing lifespan. 0-20w was thought to be good enough. Probably should have always been 5-30w or 0-40w in the trucks. GM trucks are a huge market. As far as carb goes eeking out slightly better numbers per vehicle adds up on the high volume sales. I traded my 6.2 a while back, but personally if I still had it. I'd be changing to a heavier weight oil yesterday 🤷.

Mine has a lifetime average of 12.3 mph on 0W20, that's why I'm switching to 0W08, gonna get mine up to 12.5 mpg!

My life time average in my 6.6 gas is 11.8 with 5w-30 oil and 87 octane fuel 😅 i actually spend less on fuel with the HD then I did with my 1500. I guess ill be saving even more not having to buy super car 0-40w oil, lol.

I get 16 to 18 mpg gallon on my 6.6L Duramax. Oil costs $6 quart for 5 gallons of Mobil 1 5W40 synthetic or the same as 3 quarts of that super fuck you over everyone's got a hard on about. Gonna get 22 mpg on 550 HP when I delete and tune it!

Explain to me why this oil isn't as good as any other W40 oil on the market.........and it's not because it goes in a fucking Corvette. This is what I'll be running in all my rigs going forward.
