****6.2 RECALL HAS BEEN RELEASED*****TSB NEEDED

You keep it long enough you'll get a new engine! They know there isn't one of these cranks in spec. There wasn't a coincidental run that just happened to roll.off in spec. The oil viscosity change is only to help slow progression and prolong customer pain. That's how they have it planned to triage these turds.

I'm about to find out on the Tahoe. Switched to 0W40 just to see what happens. Will be interesting if the iron particles are better or worse.
Good luck!

With varying dealer experiences, figured I'd share mine from Fri. I have a 22, was down to 8% oil life, went to do dealer requesting they complete the recall. Dealer confirmed my vehicle was part of the recall, but GM has not authorized the work to be completed yet and I have to wait until GM sends me the 2nd notice to bring it in. I let them proceed with just changing the oil to see what they would put in and they used OW20.

Yep. I had the exact same experience with my dealer a few weeks ago when I took my truck in for my free oil change. They still put in 0w 20 oil.

Dealer did my recall today, got my shiny new 0-40 cap, calculating out gives me 20 more HP from 0-20 cap. Passed the test and given my 10year/150k warranty. Range Technology installed, Blackstone report in my pocket and gonna drive it like I stole it!

Mine did not make it. RIP. Motor died on highway. Lucky to be here. 2022 with only 28k miles on it.

My wife is taking delivery of her new GX-550 today so I got a new toy for now, with Vossens from the dealer.
Very nice! I have a few neighbors that have them. Nice looking vehicles. I just hope you don't have engine issues like so many have had. Toyota quality is FAR from what it used to be. In the past, you could count on a Toyota product to last forever. Now, they're not much better than the BIG 3...very sad 😥

I will keep you guys posted on the progress though, or lack there of. Rick Hendrick Chevy in Buford GA has it now.

Thinking about a 2500 or Diesel now, we'll see.

You said "lucky to be here". Was there some kind of safety issue you had due to the failure?

Hope everything is resolved to your satisfaction.
Highway where it happened was pitch black and headlights were out completely, dash cluster was on and hazard lights working. Couldn't see and random 18 wheelers were cruising by, a slight hill blindspot didn't help. Felt better when cops made it out. Happened around midnight after helping my daughter with a flat on her car.

Dealership is doing the inspection and promised to replace the motor if it is related to the recall.

Glad your safe! That is one of the primary issues related to the failure. If you are in traffic or on challenging roads you are at high risk. I worry about this with my wife's Tahoe and she an my daughter are in it daily.

Did you have the recall performed and the ecu programmed to detect the vibration and throw the P0016 service code?

I had a DEF temp sensor go bad on my previous Duramaxx towing my toyhauler trailer up a steep grade. Went right into limp mode and lost 90% of power. Busy Interstate, with just enough shoulder to pull over. That is the most vulnerable Ive I've ever felt on a roadway........total bullshit that these vehicles are prone to abrupt failures.
