6.2L 0W40 Beta Test Poll

So the 6.2L 0W40 oil and filler cap swap is well underway and we have seen our first beta testers take action. That's why I'm not really bothered by it all. Maybe we get lucky and get a good motor.

I won’t be bothered by it for 6 years and up to 99950 miles lol. I went ahead and changed mine just cause it was due. On top of that, if by some miracle it slowed the self destruction of the engine down or maybe I have a good one and it just helps more, I’m ok with that. I will say though this has been the oddest engine for all this crap I have owned.

My truck is due for an oil change too. Gonna do it this coming weekend. Will use the new and improved Mobil 1 Supercar 0w-40 and hope for the best. What do you all think about using an oil additive, such as Lucas? It helps prevent dry cold starts. Or do you think it will just cause more problems?

I Know there are some others running oil additives on here. Not sure they are that beneficial with modern synthetic oils.

I've never used oil additives, but use fuel additives. I trust Lucas and use their grease and some other products.

Lucas and BG are the only options I would consider. I've used Lucas oil treatment in a number of my past vehicles and it seems to work great. Even helped my fuel mileage slightly. But didn't wanna put it in this 6.2L if it's gonna fuck it up even more.

Hi Guys, I mentioned in the oil analysis thread that in Australia, the local distributor changes to 5w-30 on the first oil change "to suit local conditions" but they are still grenading. No mention of a new oil filter cap of course, what's that about?

Yeah I saw that. I fall in the recall area but....it says COULD cause a warranty claim to be denied. The onus is on them to prove any oil I used caused the failure....good luck to them with that. They also said they "validated" it was ok to use in these engines, yeah right. We know they didnt validate shit. As for them recommending what oil to use and it could cause an issue, that is just fear words as most folks wont tell them to lawyer up to prove that caused the problem. So, GM can SUCK IT lol.

LUCAS fan boy here They make synthetic and non-synthetic stabilizers. I've run Lucas products In all my vehicles.... including the ZR2 at the first oil change @1.5k.
There are a lot of studies out there that show a good light on Lucas. It took one engine on a video I watched over 40 minutes more to blow up, with the zero oil, compared to the other three brands. Furthermore when they broke the engines down, Lucas showed the least damage. I use two quarts of synthetic stabilizer and then 6.25 quarts of oil. If I can spend a few hundred bucks over the life of the vehicle on one product to make it better....why not. I paid cash for mine so I'm taking meticulous care of my investment cuz I'm planning on keeping it for the long run. Even more critically right now, t's our daily driver because our other vehicle was stolen. Waiting for lawsuit money to purchase another vehicle.

So here in Las Vegas Nevada, AutoZone does not carry 0W40.
They do carry 0W30.... And it's about the same price as 0W20.

I asked the store manager about it and he said.......if he doesn't have a part number, he can't order it

I asked him if he could request it and he said that's all he could do. I haven't tried anywhere else. What are you fellas finding in your studies? Where are you looking and how much is it?

Nothing at Walmart either, but they have some sellers in there app that will ship.

I haven’t looked at many shops, but it seems to be widely available on many auto parts websites.

I already have had motor replaced but will be going to the schaeffer 0-40w option

I'm a big fan of Lucas products. Been using Lucas oil stabilizer in my vehicles for years and have had nothing but positive results. Have yet to put Lucas in my ZR2 with the 6.2L cause I was worried that if something happened to the motor they might try to blame it on using an additive. But every other vehicle I have gets Lucas in it. I even use Lucas Semi-Syn 10w40 motorcycle oil in my Victory Cross Country motorcycle. The clutch loves it and the motor runs very smooth.

My dealership put it in for me on my free oil change. Definitely does not hurt the engine and even if they got sideways and started thinking stupid like that....they would have to prove that Lucas damaged your engine. Never going to happen!
