6.2L Recall Video Compilation

Since this is the latest thread on the endless posts of the L87 situation,

I will say that I supply of 0W-40 Supercar is evaporating quickly. I use a commercial account and within this week the hub has been bled dry of all stock.

For those of you with access to AutoZone commercial, if you buy 24QT’s of M1 (of any viscosity) it’s 6.79 a Qt. Since list is 12.99 for supercar this is quite the deal.

Bought 16 for my truck 6 for my wife’s car and 2 for my generator. Today is the last day. So act fast.

I'm not too concerned about our one way or another. I've done some research this week and I think once I have to start paying for 40 weight oil, I'll be running Mobil1 Delvac 1 5W40 Sythetic. It's technically a diesel oil, but meets SN SI, SJ specs that our trucks require (sans the Dexos BS). It's gonna be $5-6 a quart and readily avaliable at Walmart and the auto stores.

There are alot of articles and videos discussing the merits of diesel oil in a gasser. I'm pretty comfortable with the results. I know a few guys that run Rotella diesel oil in everything they own.

That’s what I use in my jet ski. But I won’t give GM a way out of my warranty. Same reason I grit my teeth and used Honda oil in my truck. I’ll be keeping my truck to around 100k so I’ll take advantage of the bail out plan to the fullest extent.

To clarify, this stuff will work with zero issue. Of that I have no doubt. But I won’t give them a technicality.

Yeah. I'm still weighing the benefits. Gonna see what else comes out as more people delve into this. Really don't find much info on Mobil Delvac 1 in gassers, but lots of info on the Rotella T6.

Here's the specifications ratings approvals from Mobil Delvac 1 on left and Mobil 1 Supercar on right. Technically SP is not listed for the Mobil Delvac 1. So from that perspective maybe it isn't quite right. However, it does seem to cover Mobil 1 0W20 ratings, so there's some compatibility there (listed 3).

I'm settling on Mobil 1 0w40 FS for $5 quart. GM just waved it's magic wand and it's now Dexos R approved.

Under the Magnuson Moss Act, they can’t deny your warranty for not using a specific brand of oil unless they provide it to you for free.

A ton of people on the Victory Motorcycle forum swear by Rotella T6 and will use nothing else in their motorcycles.

As a Harkey rider I’m skeptical of something recommended by something that hasn’t been manufactured in 10 years and was owned by the Canucks. FWIW they should have killed Indian and kept the Victory, a much better looking bike.

It’s not brand. It’s viscosity. 0 40 is what they say. Like I said before and I will say again 5 40 will absolutely work and I’m not implying that it would do anything detrimental.

But with all the bullshit around the L87. I personally won’t F around. Because I will keep my truck for long enough to justify the tinfoil hat of GM pulling BS.

As a Victory rider, yes, they should have kept Victory instead of Indian. Not only is it a better looking bike, it is a better bike overall. Victory is an American made bike, not Canadian. Built in Spirit Lake, Iowa. And even though they haven't been made for 8 years, they are STILL better looking, more powerful, more comfortable and more reliable than any Harley ever built.

Yep, that's why now with the additional Dexos approval of the Mobil 1 0W40 FS, there's no need to second guess it if your just looking for a reasonably priced oil!

My wife's Tahoe is gonna be due soon. If it ain't getting through the recall, I'll put the Mobil 1 0W40 FS in it. It's getting hot now (100-115F), so may just get it done and beat the summer heat.

Curious to see if there's any performance difference and would send in another oil analysis sample at the end of summer.
