Hey folks, new to this forum and figured I’d stay off by saying hello. I have a 2025 2500 ZR2 with 14,700 miles on the odometer. I would say I am very mechanically inclined especially in the motor and motor parts department.

I just had an idler pulley bolt underneath the alternator shear clean off causing the pulley to land on the under tray and snapping the serpentine belt. This shouldn’t be a common issue as it wasn’t any of the driving pulleys and/or tensioners!? Anyone else?

Next, walked out to my truck after the gym. Started it as per usual, to my pleasant surprise I had a beautiful orange CEL on my dash. In my app it states I have an issue with my transmission and my engine cooling system. Anyone have any clue before it take it into Chevy in the morning?

This doesn’t include countless other small things that I’ve dealt with since taking ownership. (Just the 3 largest issues)

I digress, I am very VERY particular about the truck and make sure it is maintained. Both clean and mechanical, so with this being said I’ve had more than the recommended amount of services done to prevent issues down the line.

I am heavily tempted to trade in the truck as I own it outright and am continuously having issues with the truck. So basically what I’m asking is, is anyone else having countless problems with there truck or is this just a me thing?

Sounds like a Friday build before a three day weekend. Cant say I’ve heard of anything like what your experiencing.
Exactly! And that’s what I’m reading. I get it, every vehicle has issues but c’monnnn. As previously stated probably gonna be trading the truck in and letting it be chevy’s problem.

Sorry for your troubles, but it will be interesting to see the trans/coolant issue
Trading?? I have no tolerance for a disloyal vehicle, but I certainly understand your position

A very good friend of mine is the GM at my local Chevy store. Even he is pushing the issue, so can’t wait to see the diagnostic tomorrow. No noises, no slipping, no overheating (even after a 25 minute idle for my own diagnostic), nothing. I’m lost to be completely honest with you. And disloyal? I’m Chevy powertrains all day (until this specific truck)😂. Time to see…

Gm has had occasional issues with the tensioners across array of models the past few years. I just changed one on my express 2500. Did you check the tensioner after it happened? Was the spring free or tough to move? The belt being misaligned can cause an issue, it doesn't take much for a bent pulley to cause havoc.

Tensioner was perfect, obviously not easiest to move around. But to my knowledge the belt was on as put on by gm. Amen to them causing havoc tho! All that needed replaced was belt, pulley, alternator bracket and the bolt holding the idler in.
