Blown Dash Speaker

Anyone dealt with this? Supposedly, my kid didn't blow it (just like he didn't blow my JL 10" sub).

If you've gotten a replacement, what did you use? I'm looking for a slightly reasonable option.

I changed mine out with some infinity speakers when I changed all the others. But if you just want something that drops in that isn't expensive. Kicker sells a set for like 50 bucks. I haven't heard them though. For what it's worth the dash speakers actually do a lot. It's the only OEM speakers that look decent and say Bose on them, lol.

These "should" fit with very slight modification. They have the exact same cut out size as my Infinity Kappa midrange speakers I used in my dash. Crutchfield shows them as not compatible but they said mine wouldn't fit either. Mine went in pretty easily, I just had to remove a little plastic with a dremel. If they aren't exact drop in replacements, crutchfield will show them as not fitting.

It's got an impedance rating of 87 which is low. I would think an amp would be needed to drive it properly. That's an insane price to pay when you can get a Kicker or Infinity that will make it sound a ton better too at a much lower cost of entry.

I don't disagree, but they were only like $225 when I bought them in 2022...

The stock dash speakers are like 3.2 Ohm. So 4 ohm replacements should be fine on the factory amp. Would be a little lower volume, probably wouldn't make much difference. But yeah, I probably wouldn't drop a lot of cash on any speakers unless you were considering adding a Amp later. I would bet almost anything will sound better then the stock speakers. With the stock amp I don't know if you would notice a ton of difference between 60 dollar speakers and 300 dollar ones.

Btw FWIW, when I traded my 22 in on my 24. I drove 8 hours there and 8 hours back. I removed everything from my 22 except the tweeters I added to the A pillars. Just those make a big difference. Stereo sounded way better on the drive up then the drive back home without them.
