I've read a few places that there is a software update coming soon for the pathetic sounding 7 speaker systems in the 2024+ trucks, anyone heard of this?

My truck updates the offline maps, that's it. But don't think that is considered a OTA update like you all are talking about. Definitely no OTA software updates since I've owned the truck.

Mine does the same thing and frequently. Weird that there are so many map updates so often.

I just executed a software update that popped up on my infotainment screen. I just got a 25' Bison and only had it a month. No info as far as I can see as to what it included, unless I'm missing where to search for that.
It might be my imagination but I think the stereo sounds just slightly better. Not as muddy.

I have a 25 Bison also.
I was hesitant about doing the update but fiinally did it.
Made the stereo cut out worse than ever.
I think this is the latest update,
  • Improvements to software performance
  • Fixes for audio system performance
  • Improvement to connectivity for Bluetooth
  • Fixes to help ensure successful software updates and notifications
  • Fixes to address instances of inactive driver display
  • Improvements to functionality for USB and steering wheel controls

I have not noticed any cut out in the radio. Only artifact after the new software install is it takes quite a while for the radio to come on after starting the car. Noticeably longer than before.

It’s absolutely mind boggling the wide experiences people have. After the update on my ‘24 the head unit seems much more responsive, Apple Car Play loads faster via Bluetooth connect, and the audio does seem a little bit better, but I’m so friggin deaf you could attach tin cans to an egg beater and I’d probably say its got a good beat.

Yes CarPlay…..
There is an inherent design flaw with the current radio where CarPlay interferes with the data bus of the radio. When CarPlay is passing data to the headunit, like a calendar reminder, etc., the radio will temporarily mute for a very short period of time. There is no software fix for this. I find it very hard to believe that anyone does not have muting issues when the radio first boots for the first 5 minutes or so since CarPlay is communicating with the head unit for the first few minutes. The problem was never resolved by GM engineers because it's a hardware issue and not a software update.

Interesting, another artifact I didn’t mention was after the system said the software was updated I took the truck for a spin up the coast. My usual Sunday coffee run. After starting I noticed that the XM said loading. And the hamster wheel was running for a LONG time. Probably 4-5 minutes. When it finally did come back up I noticed that Google maps on the right side of the infotainment screen was gone. Just showed the radio volume bar. Took about 45 minutes but the Nav finally showed up.
Glitchy, I’d say so….

I haven't noticed a difference in mine, But all my bose speakers and amp are in a box on a shelf in the garage 😅 I think the OEM speakers are just not great. I doubt anything is going to do all that much for them.
