Code reader question

@securityguy have you tried any other apps with the BlueDriver gadget? I saw someone else post a pic of their screen, and the app (OBD Fusion I think) they were using was on Carplay!

Btw - I bought the BlueDriver gadget a while back on your recommendation, works great but their app isn’t Carplay compatible (at least last I tried).

I have never looked for other Bluedriver apps. I've had mine for many years now and never found a reason to buy anything else. It never bothered me that it wasn't CP capable. Happy to hear you're liking it as it does exactly what it says. I also tried the OBDLink MX+ but, for me, found the Bluedriver to be a better value and does the same thing.

It would be nice for monitoring a few things that are hard to see on my phone - regen status, soot level, etc.

Hey guys. Is anyone using an PBDlink MY+ to read out the engine oil temperature on a 1500 zr2 2025? I can’t get that information read.
What App are you using to read the data? Sometimes in order to read certain data you have to load the necessary PIDs and a corresponding guage into the app. There are some articles and videos on how this works.

I can make custom PIDs. So I would just need the information, which data to use to make this PID. I use OBDLink or OBD Fusion on iOS.

I don't know offhand, but usually a Google search will get you that information. Sometimes I find it on auto tech sites and sometimes on other forums. I'm not sure who issues the PIDs or who keeps the master list, but I think its industry standard.

I tried with google and chat gpt. Google didn’t really help. Chat gpt lead me through the process of creating the respective PID but it didn’t show any data when I tested it. That’s why I ask the question here now. I am looking for someone who is running such a PID already successfully and can share the information how exactly to get it done.

See if the GM Trucks forum has anything.

If you're just looking for a a quick assessment of your oil operating temperature, you can use an infrared thermometer on the pan and get a decent idea.

That PID worked on my Torque Pro App. Seemed to respond once I started driving, i only drove about 5 miles. I banged some gears for a couple miles and got it up to 160F, but it dropped fast when I coasted in to the house.

Measured the oil pan temp and got some similar readings, but they were really inconsistent. I dont think it liked the shiny aluminum surface. Probably radiant heat from adjacent equipment too.

I've been testing that transmission temp PID shown in that description, but I dont think it is functional, as it does not match the trans temp reading from the truck DIC. When I change the formula to (A+42), I can get it to read close, but there is still variability when running. Then this morning it read +40ish over ambient before start up. It is possible that the sensor is in the cooler versus near the transmission pan and therefore different readings.
