HD Front End Top Out?

The ball joints and linkage with grease zerks are notoriously dry at delivery. Could be part of the issue. I have one of my tie rods that seems to be losing more grease than the others. Might have to have them replace the rod or boot.
I greased it all before I left the lot, and once more at 10k miles. About to do round 3 at 20k miles.

Also topped off the diffs/xfer cases.

I'm a GM truck OG haha.

I also run a caddy dealer RE the recall awareness haha

I grease mine a few pumps every 3-5k, depending on how I've been driving, especially in dirt or dusty conditions. The tie rod boots don't seem to be very good. They don't seem cracked or worn, but don't hold grease very well either.

My boots are all still not leaking and "plump", or weren't as of last check. Been a few weeks though hahaha. mines had a pretty easy life thus far. 90% of my 18700 miles/10 months of ownership have been entirely unladen highway miles between 70-80mph. So she doesn't see a lot of normal HD abuse. Never towed, never plowed, haven't had more than 1000# in the bed. A few dozen dirt/rutted out roads and living in MI which is definitely not a kind place to drive.

But, back to the noise. I'll try to catch it on video and post it. It almost sounds clockspring-ish/relay-ish. Usually crossing a spot around the 345degree mark in the wheel rotation from top dead center. Not always, usually more when cold/driving slow. Not present at speed. I have thus far chalked it up to whatever "digital assist steering" entails. It's present even directly after greasing. I'm just waiting until winters over and then I have a few minor things to have addressed (askew sunroof with wind noise / rattle. Squeaky driver seat bottom)

Curious, Is your truck otherwise stock? Mine is. My whole goal when buying this truck was to avoid aftermarket temptations for as long as humanly possible, lmao. That's a road I travel too easily down. But, unless it's warranty thing on my end/anyone's end I think I'd nab some PPE tie rods and a PISK and call her good +/- a stabilizer cuz why not. After my warranty is out and things start to go, that's my plan at least.

How's your steering feel etc? I'm super curious how other trucks feel after some use. Mines still pretty tight overall, actually impressive for a stock GM hahaha

My truck is stock, with AEV gear, so heavy up front. Drives great and still feels solid as the day I got it. I only have 15k on the clock and 500 hours. I tow a fair amount, some light offroad work, typical city/highway miles. Since last fall, 4000 out of the last 5000 miles have been towing 5000-12, 000k lbs. It's by far the best handling and most comfortable truck I've been owned. My only issues have been software quirks and a bad trailer wiring harness.

Roger that. Yeah I'm sure that bumper is a bit heavier haha.

I have to check my hours. Wholeheartedly agree regarding the ride quality. I'm glad yours hasn't misbehaved much. I prefer everything on this truck ride wise comparative to a non-zr2 half ton. Mines gas with snow plow prep, and it still rides freaking amazing with 50psi

Just shined mine up this AM

Looks good! I need to put a good shine on mine. It's probably as dirty as it's ever been. Lots of dust and rain and bugs and offroad driving
