My all time favorite is one of the original "craft" brews is Anchor Steam Beer! Brewed with steam processing in San Francisco since 1896.
It was my go to beer anytime on tap in a bar/restaurant and I always had a stash in the fridge at home. It was the gawd damned best beer I've ever tasted with seafood and sourdough bread.
Sadly it was bought out by Sapporo and sacrificed recently like a 0 pilot committing harikari! Pearl Harbored our asses again. Fuck you Japan!
Supposedly someone bought the rights to brew it again, but there's not much recent news. I will live with the fond memories.
I discovered Alaskan Amber when I was working in Anchorage/Kenai Peninsula. I love amber beer in general, especially when eating food. However, this particular amber beer will forever hold a special place in my heart because I drank it with the best meals I've ever had in my life. Halibut, salmon, king crab, oysters, clam chowder, reindeer sausage, sourdough bread all fresh, no bullshit processed or frozen crap.....and on and on!
To round out my favorites, which all seem to be seafood centric, I'll close this trilogy with Coconut Hiwa Porter from Maui Brewing Company. It's just an exceptional tasting brew to wash down a fresh bowl of tuna poke from the islands. My family thought I was nuts, 'cause I would go to the same restaurant and get a poke bowl every day and wash it down with a Coconut Hiwa. The damed freshest and highest grade tuna you can find right off the boat in Maui.
