Greetings all,
I have been searching for information regarding the rumor that this bar interferes with the rear camera setup. This was ordered with my truck back when they were actually available. Does anyone have insight on this?

So I don't know for sure, but I was looking at this bar before I got my truck. I'm going to say that yes it will block the rear view camera's that come with a tech package. If you ordered this with your truck that had to be a while back. You still don't have your truck?

I ordered it in February 2022. It has been sitting in a holding lot in Mexico for 5 months now. GM indicates that it is waiting to board a ship to California. Dealer says its awaiting transport, and the code indicates that it is still waiting on parts. I'm walking away from this on November 1st if I don't see some progress. Maybe I will stuff the 6.2 in my current Colorado!

That sucks. Get on GMs sight and look for available trucks. Mine got built on 5/30 and has been on MP hold at the factory ever since. They told me the same stuff at first. Traffic jam waiting on transport, blah blah. Come to find out it's waiting on chips. I found a truck in transit and bought it 2 months ago. My ordered truck is still on hold. Chevy still sends me an update every Friday, lol. Glad I didn't keep waiting, I've got 3k miles on mine already. Love it

I'm glad you were able to score one. There have been several trucks on lots in my area. They have 15-18k dealer mark-ups! Surprisingly, of the 6, there are only 2 left. Someone is buying them. Will not be me!

I took a few pictures for you at mine in the garage tonight. The cameras actually point under the bar. I will check the camera tomorrow for you(guess I haven’t noticed yet). I do know the view was slightly blocked on the top because of the sportbar on my 20 TB when I used the rear view mirror camera, but this camera seems to point at an angle-might be fine.

Thank you Upnorth, appreciate the effort. Speaking of up north, I will be in Lake Holcombe in Chippewa County next month for the whitetail hunt! Can't wait.

Here are your camera views with the sportbar. The top of the bar does block the cameras slightly(not too bad). If that bar could be just a little narrower-you wouldn’t see it!

Thank you! I have to consider this a design error. Although minor, this is still an annoyance. Couldn't someone have done a little math to figure this out? Disappointing.

I imagine the structure is hollow. You could probably take grinder to it and cut out a small indentation to fix the issue.

Honestly it might be a convenient step if you wanted to mount lights and run the wires through the inside of the bar. You could rig up a simple plastic cover that would look OEM.

Thanks a ton for posting this because nobody anywhere has been able to answer this. You, sir, are the Braveheart of the ZR2 and I very well may pursue this project!

If you don't mind posting the dimensions of the bar where it interferes with the camera I can cross-reference available chase racks and post the results for folks.

This is awesome. Always wondered how it would have looked.

Ordered my truck with the sport bar and sport side steps. Only the side steps came which was annoying and I figured it has to be due to the tech package and that sport bar interference . Now it’s not even on the byov site anymore to add to the trim package. Thanks for the info!

I took a few measurements-the sportbar tubes are 2 3/4”wide. The top of the sportbar is 20 1/2” from the top of the bed and the cameras are around 17” from the top of the bed. There is approx 1” of bar below the third light lense-that would probably be the most you could take off. The biggest problem I see is that there are 2 bars you would have to cut out or flatten. It would be nice if the sportbar came with cameras..

Thanks again. Great information. I pull a Ranger boat to several tournaments throughout the year and I can't imagine that small distraction will have a huge impact. My steps and sport bar are actually at my dealership. If I ever get the truck, I will have to make the decision.

This is my third Silverado with a sportbar(2015,2020,2022). I just like the look-I was an avalanche guy before they quit making them. You will like the matching steps-they are great compared to others I’ve used. The high clearance ones came with my ZR2 looked great, but are pretty useless for a step

Ha I thought that as well. Those high clearance steps are awfully close to the height of just not using a step at all.

This helps a ton.
