Infotainment System Update

That’s some shit there. No updates if you don’t pay them for a data plan. I mean the truck can connect to your home WiFi if it just needed a connection.
That might work. Never thought of home WiFi, or even use your phones Hotspot. I'm pretty sure you just need a OTA connection.

I'm pretty sure mine are connected to home wifi too. There is a setting that allows you to turn on and off uodates and specifically for wifi.

Excellent! So, in other words, it will work with our phones Hotspot also?

Also, I think I'll just wait til the next time I have my truck at the dealer to get the Android 12 update. Don't have any problems with the infotainment system right now so no hurry to fix what isn't broke.
Some had major issues. Always loosing signal, freeze ups, no satellite, ect.... For me ...it definitely smoother... More responsive.... I am happy with it.

They stopped the OTA updates because they were bricking some systems and not just trucks, but cars also. I know that Google maps and the apps that you have installed through the Play store that is installed in the truck. Those will update OTA, just not a system update.

Mine latest was Android 12, but the others are still Android 10 and would not do an OTA update. Message said everything was up to date.
They stopped the OTA updates because of people not following instructions and bricking there system. My SA at the dealership told me it happened to many different vehicle types....not just the trucks. So now even if you try to OTA update, it won't.

It never worked!

In other news, my radio still cuts out and it locked up after startup today. Don't think that'll ever be be resolved.

I would have them hardwire update again.... That is unacceptable

I listen to SiriusXM all and my system still cuts out all of the time, even after the infotainment updates. Cuts out the most shortly after start up.

Since they did the recall for the gateway, mine has not cut out again. It did not update the system though. I will say, the Ram I drove while mine was getting fixed cut out more than ours ever thought about.

They should remove that from the menu. All it does is confuse people and make them think they have the latest and greatest when in reality they have the same old broken sh!t until they take it to the dealer and let them handle it. The OnStar website still even talks about OTA updates. GM needs to get their act together…:mad::mad::mad::mad:

I hadn't had the lockout after start up.in a long while. Maybe since after the first update. Mine would mostly just fade in and out occasionally, but it wasn't very often. I'm on SiriusXM 99.5% of the time, but noticed it on Pandora and Android too.

I'm. Not that worried about it, as it's infrequent. I'll be down there an eight time for my trim repairs soon enough. Maybe I'll ask them to do it again.
