Just bought my first truck. 2023 ZR2 25000km. Share your positive stories!

I didn’t learn about all of the lifter issues and propulsion failure recall until after I bought it. Absolutely love the truck and I’m hoping it’s just being blown out of proportion on the internet, there must be some positive Zr2 stories out there.

The truck was inspected for the propulsion failure recall and passed (confirmed by dealership that did the recall work) so that’s a relief… I think. It now has the special 10yr/240,000km coverage. It also has 2 years and 75,000km left on the power train warranty. Clean maintenance record with service every 5000km at a Chevy dealership. I plan on keeping the same schedule. Considering a dfm disabler.

There's definitely problems with the motors and transmission valve bodies. It's a relativity low %. GM says 3% of all trucks/SUVs with 6.2L sold 22-24.5 model years. But there are 25 and 26 model year trucks failing too. Some people on this forum have had two motors replaced..... go figure.

I'd say the most common problems are related to software, infotainment system performance, and electronic parts failures. Some other trim, paint and mechanical issues.

Overall, they are really a fun truck to drive and the suspension and power are great. Have fun!

I got a 1500 zr2 right out of the gate with the 6.2. Then a zr2 w/ the 3.0. Now have a 2500 with Duramax and put 20k+ miles on each of them. I had no notable problems with any of them, no dealer visits other than oil changes. All of them had very glitchy infotainment/ electrical systems- just semi annoying and glitchy software bugs.

All of them were the best stock trucks for what I do - daily driving, off road camping, hunting, hiking, etc. I’ve been extremely impressed with the overall platform and suspension capabilities. I am one that loves the interior on these trucks as well, lots of storage compartments and space, I love the black and charcoal contrast as well.

Enjoy it - if you end up having motor issues, you’re covered, I would recommend just enjoying it as any truck has the risk of “issues” - good luck and have fun.

The interior and overall look of the truck is really what made me fall in love with it as well, along with all of the stock off road capabilities. I’m not a guy that’s in the bush hammering on my vehicle every weekend, but, it’s nice to know the couple times of year I get out the truck will carry me smooth sailing to wherever I need to get to. Like I already said it has a clean maintenance record which I intend on carrying on. Good to know I’m covered if anything does go wrong and I will have the paperwork to prove good standing with the warranty. Thanks for taking the time to chime in !
