Hey guys,

Just took ownership of my new ZR2!

I have an interesting back story on this. Back in late 2023 I wanted a ZR2 so I took it out for a test drive and the best MPG I could get on the HWY was 17! No good for me. So I bought a 2024 Silverado HC with the 6.2L motor. Love that truck! Love the 6.2L too - plenty of power and I was getting ~22 MPG on HWY so I was happy with that. Then a couple months ago I get an email from Carfax saying that my truck has a recall on the 6.2L motor and they may have defective crankshafts and connecting rods. The resolution? Do a pico scope test and if passes add thicker oil. Uh, no. Not for me. There's still no guarantee that it'll never happen again after that supposed fix.

Then, I see the ZR2 now offers the baby diesel. YES! Now I can have the ZR2 with some level of fuel efficiency. So I trading in my Silverado HC (they gave me $50k for it) and bought this beauty today. Now I have the exact truck I wanted all along.

A few questions:

1. Does diesel motor have stop/start like gassers? Seems that wouldn't be good on diesel engines?
2. Does Sport mode do much? In my high country it made it sound like it had cat back exhaust which I LOVED but I know that's not the same with this diesel. Not sure if Sport mode is really applicable to this truck.
3. I used to add diesel additives to my older diesel I had years ago but it seems not really needed on these newer engines. I don't think I'll bother.

All I can think of for now!

Welcome! Yes the Baby Max has the dreaded Auto Start/Stop, Some say just push the button every time you start the truck. I initially had a gadget that hooks up to the trucks negative battery terminal, but that seemed to interfere with getting data for the myChevrolet app. Even though the install is a bit more of a job, the Autostop Eliminator is the way to go. Sport mode changes shift points and throttle sensativity. As for diesel treatments, that's like asking which oil is best. I use Hotshot's EDT every fill up.

Just bought some Hotshot EDT. Thanks for the tip!
