Newbie with questions

Truly on the fence about which engine. Was told today the V8 required premium gas, heck that is more than diesel, but that V8 was fun to drive.

That looks an awful lot like a Chevy with a Honda badge on it.
One wheel well is from a Chevy and the other is from a GMC. Also it has duallies that go inward like a drag race car, so the bed would be tubbed out! AI hasn't studied trucks just yet.
 
Drove the wife’s 3.0 today, Swung out to make a pass and realized it don’t jump up and go like the 6.2. Then she reminds me that her truck gets double the gas mileage, so there is that.

It's comical that GM is going to warranty the 6.2 longer than it will be before the turbolax needs to be pulled to change the pump drive belt and chuckleheads thing it's the greatest. the biggest problem among many for pretend diesels is the exhaust filter problems. check it out and learn something.
i'm a proud pretend diesel owner and i love it. sure, it doesn't have the getty up and go the 6.2 that i had does, but it doesn't run horribly bad, either. i don't have to lay into it wide open to make a pass, it goes just fine. and, in addition to the better fuel mileage on cheaper fuel than the recommended 93 octane for the 6.2, it has higher torque rating than the 6.2, which is better for towing and is why i bought both the 2024 6.2 (that blew up) and, subsequently, the 2025 baby-max.

i'll give the 6.2 crede on the snappy power it had over the 3.0, and definitely the superb rumble of the exhaust. otherwise, my old ass is finding the 3.0 is a much better fit for me. as for any issues, i lived the blown engine of the 6.2 for 2 months, i'm taking my chances with any projected issues of dura jr.
 
Tomorrow is the test run with the 3.0, the 6.2 test drive was fun but I'm leaning toward the 3.0 for MPG and not sure I have faith in the 6.2 due to recent recalls. I know the 2025 should have the fixes but still just not sure.

If you get the 6.2L, it comes with a free spare motor occasionally.
 
I loved my 6.2 in the 2018 1500 LTZ I had. Tuned it and added a flowmaster with duels out the back. It would throw you back in the seat. We bought a travel trailer last year and range anxiety was killing me only could go 200 miles max. The truck was sitting on 305/55/20's and Cooper MT's on it so I am sure I lost some range because of it. Bought a 2025 2500hd ZR2 Bison with the diesel. Should have no range anxiety anymore.

you'll love it. took my son's 2500 diesel on a 250 mile trek this past weekend pulling his dual axle fifth wheel trailer (~4 ton) and hauling ~4 ton of brick on half the trip. couldn't even tell the trailer was behind us other than the trailer jumping around a bit over the rough WV interstates (I swear, I've ridden on smoother gravel roads). but, power wise, sheeeeeeit, it's like nothing's there, that 6.6 diesel got the juice.
