I would hate to see what would happen to the enthusiast aftermarket world if any mass manufacturer actually built their vehicles “the way they should”. Then again, I miss being able to adjust the timing, tune carbs, and yell “fire it up” while my head is under a hood in the front yard covered in shade from the trees. These days you have to ask Jarvis if his feelings are hurt before you ask kindly if the computer can fix the problem.

One of the reasons why I still like motorcycles. You can still work on them. But the expensive ones like BMW and Ducati and KTMs are no longer that way. Only thing you can do is bolt on high priced accessories and head to the dealer for $500 "first service"!

I’m banned from two wheels with a motor after a high side into a corn field back in ‘91 🤣

My Duc was the first bike I ever added a DynoJet to that figured out how to compensate for it and set it all back to factory. That was in 2015... Mitsubishi built the ECM for that particular bike.

I've got the Race ECU and Power Commander on my Duc and dyno tuned it. It runs pretty strong, 1100cc for 375lb bike. It still has a maintenance clock on it that has to be cleared by the dealership, which was pretty new for 2008 bikes. Now its common. I still do most of my own work. I bought a couple Honda CRF450RL dual sports bikes and you can still do most of the work. Had to have one ECUs flashed with a new performance tune and added an aftermarket ECU on the second. Everything else you can still do yourself.
