There was likely so much push back both externally and internally, that someone in corporate pulled the head out of ass and decided it wasn't a good idea. Not to worry, they'll fuck up something else instead.

They still haven’t learned consumer want to see maps on the full screen not just a small square. Super annoying and biggest downside of CarPlay imo.
