Hello everyone. Sorry for my absence. Been insanely busy.

Have a question. My ZR2 is the 2025 2500HD and I absolutely hate my taillights with a passion. However, I love the ones I had on my 2021 Trail Boss LT. The new lights have an incandescent “glow” while the 2021 lights had 2 very crips LED “strips” (both L shaped). I am aware my taillights are in fact LED. They are the sealed, one plug kind. I am also aware my old 2021 lights had more than one plug and an incandescent bulb for the reverse light (I replaced them with Lazfit so they were stupid bright). So here is my question….

Will the older style lights fit into the newer style trucks? Can I “downgrade” my wire harness from just one plug to multiple plugs as required by the older style lights? In short, can I put the older style lights, which look tons better, in my 2025 truck. I am only looking at GM factory lights. I am not interested in the aftermarket ones. I don’t like them either

I appreciate all of you and your wisdom. Keep rockin it 🤘🤘

I would expect them to fit, but incompatible electronics. More than likely you would get an error code in the DIC for your backup lights as the Lighting Control Module programming expects to see a certain specification feeding through it.

As an example, I could use LED replacement backup lights on my 22 and 24 ZR2 trucks, but those same lights would not work on my 23 Tahoe. I just finally found (3 years of waiting) a set of bulbs that draw a higher amperage draw so it would not throw an error code on the Tahoe.

You could sideways find someone that will let you test fit one of theirs.
